It's held in place with roll pin(s) or some call them spring pins.

did you have to soak the pins up with pb or heat them up? i have tried to pound them out and they will not budge. i am going to get a can of pb blaster and try that. if that does not work i may spring for the adapter.

I just shot in some PB in where the pins are tapped on them to vibrate in the oil and the pins tapped right out. Make sure you use the right size drift pin so you don't bugger up the pins. Then I put a shot around the base of the finger vibrated it by tapping the side of the pole with the rubber handle of the hammer. After a couple shots like that I put the hammer handle through the ring and gave it a twist. I couldn't believe it when it moved. I just kept shooting in the PB while working it back and forth and vibrating then starting lifting while twisting and out it came. DON'T put to much pressure on it when twisting it can break!

Here's some data you may find interestig.
[QUOTE=8122pbrainard] Get yourself some decent penetrating oil like Kroil or mix up 50% acetone and 50% ATF. Throw the WD40 and PB in the trash. You have fallen for marketing "hype".
[QUOTE=8122pbrainard] Here's the list of torque requirments copied from the other thread:
Penetrating oil ..... Average load None ...................... 516 pounds WD-40 ................... 238 pounds PB Blaster ............... 214 pounds Liquid Wrench ......... 127 pounds Kano Kroil .............. 106 pounds ATF-Acetone mix.......53 pounds
I don't even consider WD40 to be a penetrating oil so that puts PB at the bottom for me. Kroil is a on line order only so when I was taking my 1927 Flexifour apart and trying to break the rusted pistons loose, I did pick up a can of PB. A week went by with no luck and then the Kroil came in. The next day after using some of the Kroil, all four pistons were loose. I ended up using the PB as a honing lubricant!
The home brew ATF and reducing it with a solvent is real interesting! I need to mix up a batch and give it a try. |

Pete, I knew you were going to post this. I didn't need to go as far as making the ATF brew but I did use that on a stubborn old snowmobile secondary this winter.

Are those Super Deluxe Boom Mounts pretty solid?
If they hold tight and do what they claim, that seems like a really good option.

Don't have one but I've never heard anything but positive comments about the SDBM.

I think he's still active, but I don't know how big an operation he is. He was just on this thread, as they have a new retractable product for Super Air Nautiques: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25046" rel="nofollow - http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25046
