Hi,
I just got offered a solid but cosmetically rough dual axle trailer for $50 at a metal shop.
It needs bunks added so was wondering what timber is noramlly used?

I've always used treated wood, CCA, or whatever it now is

I've used treated wood in the past. I know some swear by cypress as the best wood to use for bunks. Around me, it goes for around $3/foot for 2x4, so it may cost more than the trailer itself if you use it.

I thought treated timber would be suitable, as it turns out I'll need to do some welding and replace a bunch of stuff.
If it's within my capabilities it will be okay and I'll get a trailer for a decent price.
Otherwise I'll take the axles, hubs and hitch and move them onto my existing CC trailer and ditch the frame.
