Hi what a great site and so much knowledge and enthusiasm! Most of you are in the US of A on the other side of the pond Is there a way of locating searching UK & european more local members I see some like uk 1979 and mattB it would be good to see this post populated with UK and european members is there a way of searching for them ??
Where are You?????
what have you got?????
What have you done to it ???
Where / what is it used for ????
Helloooooooooooooooooo??????
Maybe a UK meet could be organised?

Maybe a Europe sub forum for this side of the pond with 'local' contacts.

Have an 86 Martinique with a 351 on Lake Maggiore in Italy and used for skiing, wakeboarding, tubes, kneeboards and cruising.

A UK or Europe meet would be great.

I have a mustang that we use for cruising and a little sports...

Got a 1990 Ski Nautique for 3 years now.
It's used for wakeboarding, skiing and cruising.

Added a tower, dual battery system and new audio system to it, and did a lot of wetsanding last year.

Still need to update my profile.

Hi matt lovely boat , superb spec how goes the acme 422? what advantages does it give you presumably it was a 3 blade stock before ?
Thanks Boyd

Posted By: MattB
Date Posted: April-26-2012 at 2:09pm
Hey Boyd,
The 3 blade stock prop on the boat had taken a few knocks by the previous owner, nothing to serious but there was some vibration from it so I need to get it refurbished and I wanted to keep it as a spare, after reading posts from here and other sites the 422 seemed like a good replacement for my needs, running some ballast sometimes but not a huge amount and a good all around prop.

I have not fully tested the 422 (only been out once since installing) but first impressions are very impressive, its very smooth with a great hole shot, my only other experience of the 2001 is with a beaten up stock prop so I don't have anything to compare it too but I am very happy with the performance (understatement).

For info I had it shipped to the UK from http://www.DeepBlueYachtSupply.co.uk" rel="nofollow - DeepBlueYachtSupply prices are from Feb so might have changed but its a good guide.

Price for prop: £242.96
Prop Puller: £44
Shipping: £57.76
Customs charge/import duty: £78.13 (Grrrrrrr)
Total Cost: £422.85

We managed to get out on Saturday but luckily there was only 2 boats on the lake and we took it in turns to use the far end of the lake where the water was sheltered from the wind and a little bit flatter, first time out in a 3/2mm wetsuit was a shocker though.

thought I'd say a quick hello. I lurk on this forum from time to time, mainly when the boat is broke... Anyway, I've got a '97 Sport, Monster tower, more lead than I care mention hidden around the boat and a few fat sacs to boot. Based Loch Lomond but seen very little use of the boat over the last 2 seasons, young kids and weather bad whenever I have time...

You must love the boarding at 10:00pm in the summer..I had a couple of sets on Loch Lomond a couple of seasons ago and it was great although the next day you could have surfed the white water across the loch it was so windy! oh and it was COLD
The guys at http://www.lochlomondwakeboard.com/" rel="nofollow - http://www.lochlomondwakeboard.com/ were great, shame I didn't have more time there though.

yeah, Raymond and the guys are doing good things for wakeboarding in Scotland, it's certainly becoming less of a niche which is great. You're right on the temperature, it's over 100 fathoms deep in places (620ft from memory) so never warms up! Certainly wakes you up first thing in the morning if you are brave enough to go without a wetsuit..

I was on the lake on Monday tinkering with the boat and took this 360 degree panoramic photo on a low resolution iPhone 3gs. The water is still cool at 13C, as we have had lots of rain and no sun. The lake is at least 1.6m / 5' higher than 3 weeks ago. That's a lot of water on a lake 212km2 or 82 sq miles in area

I used the Photosynth app, clever piece of software that automatically takes and composes the image, this is about 10-12 individual pictures.

I think my alternator has died, gauge reads less than 12v. It was low last year but will try to get the meter on it tomorrow.
Any leads on a new/overhauled unit in uk? There are quoting a silly price here. I can return original as exchange in early June.
I guess that is what second batteries and jump leads are for (second battery is aux only). I thin a future project will be a dual battery switch.

Tom,
Have you looked for a "auto electric" shop over there? That's typically what we call them here. They rebuild alternators.

Most likely you have a blown diode or more in the full wave bridge rectification. They can blow from things like disconnecting the battery while running sending the alternator into a full field output or crossing connecting a battery.

If this is true, all that's needed is a diode(s) replacement. Many actually do it themselves.

That's very sad to hear. The UK wakeboarding scene seems to be growing in popularity, have you thought of promoting the club at the likes of the wakestock festival and any cable parks? If there are any close to you that is, just a thought..

Its £350 a year and you can ski everyday from daybreak till 4pm. Monday and Fridays all the way through till dark. Saturday is all day too and sunday till 1pm and then 6 till dark.

People moan its much but we are one of the lowest price club in the uk. Oh and we have 216 acres of water to ski on and a purpose built clubhouse!!

Sort of making the water fizzy and taste of beer im not sure what else I can do!

£350 A year for membership is excellent especially for a nice lake with plenty of space and some facilities.
I don't think at the moment there will be much you can do to attract new boat owning members other than keep advertising wherever you can and posting on forums. With boat owning being an expensive luxury everyone is watching what they spend and so memberships are always going to be tough!

I might hit you up for a tow sometime l

Hi Paul, Matt, do either of your clubs offer arrive and ride (pay per session/tow on club boat).
Or do you know anywhere that does? I've heard about the club at Sale just off the M60 but apparently you can wait all day to get a tow as there's only one boat allowed on the lake and members get priority.
I'm trying to organise something for myself and 2 others this bank holiday Monday, my boats not ready yet and would rather spend half a day driving to get on a boat than go a cable park.
It's a long shot but you never know!!!!

Church Wilne's number is 01332 875574 website is %20http://www.churchwilne.co.uk%20" rel="nofollow - http://www.churchwilne.co.uk
Day membership to cover insurance is £10 and tows are £20 for the main lake or the tournament lake but members take priority on the tournament lake but its just a simple queue system and everyone is friendly so you would not wait long.

Hey Graham, obviously I would say Church Wilne but then its my club so I am biased, I have had many good sets at ten-80 also though. It depends on what you are after, are you boarders or skiers, beginners or some experience. Church have a cross-over nautique which is ok for both and also a ski boat (I forget the models) if you want to slalom, I think ten-80 has a better wake from their boat but its been a while since I have been there so I don't know what boat they run now.

It is always implied that you are always welcome to ride behind the 2001 and that also applies to anyone else on here I just didn't want to commit to being out on Monday without knowing what my lovely partner had planned for the bank holiday. G - you have my number so I am sure we can sort something out for Monday

Its now officially the weekend so I need a or 2.

We'll have to meet up again, you never know I might actually manage to get mine out on the water in the next couple of months so we can return the favour
Oh, and I think you managed to get a full head count with the casualties - I woke up this morning with a sunburnt face and what feels very much like whiplash!!

Lol, no problems

When the sunshine is out its so hard not to push yourself that little bit further and harder without thinking about the aches and pains that will follow the next day. If it makes you feel any better it was a FULL house with the casualties as I am still feeling it, the good news is that its only aches and pains which disappear over a couple of days
If I ache the next day I KNOW I've had a good day on the water

Graham, I tracked this last week....its on a hidden bidders and has some help mates last week but they got stuck with it that's why it back up,I not so sure it is a Ski Nautique I think it could be a Ski Tique as the hull looks wrong under all the dirt for a 01 SN .......its been a club boat needs new engine/trans, interior, gauges, lot of gel work.

Never seen this thread before.

I have an '84 2001. Lives on Windermere. used exclisvely for wakeboarding, other than my 4 year old on a knee board.

Love it, but not big enough for a family boat. Struggling to justify forking out £20k for a v-drive when the wake will only be the same as I have now though!

Hi Roger, I know its a complete mess but still looks like a 196 to me from the photos of the dash/interior and also the hull. I spotted those other ones you linked a while back and yes I agree these are much better, its just the current price of that one I linked that I thought may be of interest to someone prepared to spend a lot of time on a project. That said it would probably also take a lot of money to do a decent job of it!!!

Hi Guys. I am contemplating converting my Martinique back to petrol......

On the lakes here in Italy you can't get LPG. So the boat has to be lifted out the water and towed 30 minutes each way to be fuelled or gas transferred from cylinders with an electric pump. All time consuming and hard on my knackered back (Getting too old for this stuff, yes it’s cheaper, but no good when you can’t ski because your back finished)

So, I'm on the lookout for either a complete petrol fuel system or collect to bits from people to convert back over the winter. I need a tank, filler cap, fuel filter assembly, engine mounted pump and a Holly carb for a 1986 351W.

On the other side I will have available a complete open loop system for a boat. There is 200 ltr 4 hole tank, a 30 ltr single hole tank (all PRV new), all fitting with Impco VFF30, Regulator (both rebuilt in 2013) and throttle body (strip cleaned 2013). I also have available a propane pump and refuelling system.

If interested PM me and we can discuss. I’m near Milan.

Thanks

Tom

I would never convert back to petrol, Why not buy 2 or 3 interchangeable tanks? Thats what everyone has over here.

I have a couple of 60ltr stainless tanks I use for refuelling (they have straight dip tubes for vertical use). But at 50kg each when full my back doesn't appreciate them (already had 2 disks done....)

What tanks do you use, and what capacity are they? How do they fit in?
We tend to cruise around Lake Maggiore rather than stay in one place, so endurance needs to be at least 3 hours. Maggiore is 68km by 5km.

Also running on LPG in a boat in Italy is a bit of a grey area...

See you're need Amsterdam? I'm in Den Haag in a few weeks

They have composite LPG tanks over here. They are very light and have a capacity of 35 liters... They are not cheap, about 150 euro per tank.
I'll ask my friend here where he got them.

Can one of you guys post a new thread about the LPG conversions? I've seen you talk about it a lot but haven't seen the components or what it entails. I think it would be an interesting thread to see how it works.

Check this post for example of the tanks: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12549&PID=404142񢪮

I use steel Forklift tanks since they have a liquid pickup tube in them and are still easy to handle. There are a few types, the cilinder style with separate filler and overpressure valve is what I use and it holds 35liters, 80% fill = 28 liters. They are heavy, but very safe. For insurance you need this one, with a max 10yr old certificate on them. Size = 300 x 720 mm

There are also sled types that are similar, but larger. They did not fit my boat.

The composite ones are great with regards to weight but SUCK from a safety perspective. You fill and empty them via the same valve. There is no 80/20 stop and there is no overpressure valve. This means that if you make 1 mistake filling or removing them from the boat, they will fly off when you pull of the filler pistol (happened to me twice). I've had 1 tank blow up while in storage with about 70% filling and by pure luck there was no explosion. I will never ever use a plastic tank again and I found out that there is no EU option to get insurance on your boat if you use them. Size = 305 x 680 mm for my exploded one.

Are your forklift tanks 'yours' to refill or do you exchange them. I am using stainless 60ltr hot air balloon tanks. I then have an electric pump to transfer from them to the fixed boat tank.
my problem is that my back is knackered and lifting them kills it.

I've been making slow progress although am disappointed that still haven't got it wet yet. I don't have a thread detailing all the work, it was always my intention to write one up as was taking photos of EVERYTHING, but that was before I got back from the pub one night and dropped iPhone down the toilet!!!

With Sue being ready to drop sprog the last couple of weeks I've resorted to doing what jobs I can in the house, so mostly swim platform and upholstery. The seats are coming along quite nicely now have made all the frames, vinyl patterns and started on the piping - am optimistic to get most the upholstery done over the next couple of weeks whilst off work with the new born, but no doubt that plan will change in a day or so!!
