Well I have lost reverse and the oil is black so I guess it's time to talk to Eric. Forward works fine but In reverse at an idle it still spins forward and when I rev it up it spins faster in forward. I double checked the linkage too. Also the dirty neutral has gotten worse.

On a positive note the engine sounds great. Carb is dripping a little after its off, do I need to adjust the float up or down for that? Think I should replace needle and seat as well?

Justin,
It sure sounds like you broke the reverse clutch plates. One good thing and it's even advertised on the FFM site is they use a replacement that's not supposed to break.

Yup I sure broke something. Strange thing is I never had a problem before but as soon as I reinstalled started leaking fluid the reverse takes a dump. Oh well it's the only thing that hadn't been rebuilt and it's 25 years old

Yes, engine and transmission rebuilt, near finished. Vince is a good guy, he is a pleasure to deal with. Eric thanks for your help, your knowledge and skill is why I took my old SN to FFM. I will work on the gel and graphics, interior myself, but I am not a mechanic, I didn't want to be towed in after skiing because my old high hour engine would not run.

I may have to bite the bullet and send it to the man, Im tired of wrenching on it, but I am also tired of spending money on it.
I just changed the wheel bearing in the audi and that used up my last shred of patience. Im an accountant for petes sake!
