1500 hours (last 300 in salt water). Recently replaced riser, exhaust manifolds, impeller, and thermostat. Can a tired circulating pump cause overheating at high rpms? All hose clamps, hoses, and strainer are in good shape.

I think I would tighten all hoses/connections-air leak?

This is what I told my buddy to do. He said he checked but I will double check when I ski with him this weekend. I sold him the boat last year but still ski behind it several times a month. Because everything else has been replaced besides the circ pump I thought I would ask. The pump is not leaking out the weep hole so I am assuming its ok.

Skidim describes a test of the circ pump, among other tests here:

Try the bucket test.

To me, a high rpm overheat vs. a low rpm kind of suggest a blockage in the flow of water somewhere. Trans cooler?

It also came up recently in another thread, that at high rpms and engine was sucking one of the circulation hoses closed, because the hose was so deteriorated it couldn't hold itself open. Maybe not recommended, but maybe run it at speed with the engine cover removed and see if you can see any hoses collapsing.

It ended up being a loose hose at the trans cooler.... Thanks!
