I run a Fram on my '96 351W. My boat gets about 50 hours per summer in the Northwest.

I use a Motorcraft Filter on my engine. Wix and the NAPA are the same. I have gotten PCM Filters from Skidim in the past when placing a larger order.

| If you continue using the Fram, hopefully you will continue to get the 50 hours per season out of the engine.

Fram filters ARE the cheapest made period..
Why use them when you CAN buy better for the same money?
People keep buying them though ???????

Hey Linda, the reason why we are so against Fram Oil Filters is because they are poorly made and have had a bad reputation for failing. There are much better made filters out there for about the same cost or a few bucks more. Here is one of many links here on The Fan discussing Fram filters. This should help you understand a little better.

If so and he uses a Fram filter, I sure would RUN AWAY from him since he sure doesn't know what he is doing! Sorry!! He is putting the cheapest stuff on your boat. What oil is he putting in? ZDDP level?

On the bright side you can use your Fram filter to filter the oil in the turkey fryer!

Words of warning.
Never show a picture of your boat engine with a Fram Filter.
Trust me on this one.

If I were you, I would not change it out until next fall, but I would never ever speak about it again.
Also, to make you life on CCFAN go smooth, only use Valvoline VR1 Oil, I use 20/50, but some will dispute that. Also never ever speak out a having a soft spot on the floor and then say that your wooded stringers are fine. Also, never speak about FREEZE PLUGS, they are called Casting Plugs on this site. Never bring up the topic of how to put Antifreeze into your motor for winterizing protection. All of these issues can be searched on the site and you will see where I am coming from.
Have a Happy Thanks Giving.
PS, Never speak about or show a picture of a tube on your boat or people ( including infants) on a tube. Never state that your boat was used at the Cypres Gardens Ski Shows unless you have documentation to prove it. Thank Goodness I do have such paperwork from the d*ck Pope Family.
Please trust me on all of this and things will go just fine.

As long as you used the correct oil, another discussion in itself, just change the filter and add oil till your back full.
