OK so I've been all over the place trying to find a correct replacement distributor cap and rotor button for my 78' teak which has the 302 ford commander. Any ideas or suggestions where to get one?

Secondly this is random, but the original ski pole in my teak has what i would say to be a removable eye and post... does it actually come off of the pole itself? If so, how? I beat on that thing for a while and got nowhere.

Any help on either of these would be great, thanks!

Can you recognize your distributor here:

Others now more about these older marinizations.

Look on your distributor there should be a tag on it or stampings telling you what model it is.Once you know what it is you can go from there.Does not matter who marinized the motor they don't make their own and over the years it could have been changed.
Why do you want to remove the ring? Your pounding on a 200-300 dollar part if you can find one.

No, the mallory looks close, but not dead on.

There are no markings what so ever on either the cap or rotor button.
And I am trying to remove the ring without hurting it so I can switch back and forth between it and A High fly pole I designed to go over the original pole that is in there.
(essentially I was trying to get it to budge with a rubber mallet but didnt try too hard due to not knowing if or how it came off) Do you know?

As far as the Ring and Finger situation. Did you look into a Super Deluxe Boom Mount? It allows you to keep the ring in place and still mount an extended pole.

Did you remove the two 1/4" roll pins that hold the ring in the post?????

I was sure confused at first since I thought you were looking for parts for a piece of Teak wood!

A good (without a rounded off tip) 1/4" punch will work. You may need someone on the other side to "buck" the pylon with something heavy like a piece of steel. This will prevent the pylon from just vibrating and the roll pin not moving. Once the pins are out, it's best you put some upward pressure on the ring. A come-a-long works. I'd soak the ring and finger with a decent penetrating oil like Kroil. Then insert some wood through the ring so you can rotate it back and forth.

The Super Deluxe Boom Mount found in the CCfan store works better!!

Steve,
Have we asked you for pictures yet? How about a diary entry?

It may help to spray some penetrating oil in the roll pins themselves. They are hollow with a slit in them so the penetrating should be able to soak in around them.
I used the handle of my hammer to slip through the ring to twist and lift with.
If you don't know what a roll pin is, google it so you have an idea what your trying to remove.

It's probably a prestolite distibutor. If you go over to Nautiqueparts.com you can see pics of the distibutor components. As a side note the difference between marine and auto is a gasket under the distibutor cap. I used a cap, rotor, coil, ballast resistor, and wires from a 1979 International Scout II with a 345cid V-8. This uses the same Prestolite distibutor and they were in stock at my local NAPA.
