I need to replace my depth finder which is actually a humminbird fish finder (1985 model). I don't fish but I would like another one but in full color just cause I like to see the bottom going by.

I realize a depth gauge would be sufficient but I have a shelf for one anyway.

Question: any tips on thru hull install or brand recommendations??

I do not want to mount on the transom because my current one is thru hull. I don't want to run the line on the outside of the transom.

Kirk I don't think you are going to get much love here for a sounder install on your boat. However, I would need a little more information before I can help with recommendations. Pictures of your current install would be great. How much room to do have where you plan on mounting the display? What is your budget? The possibilities for sounder (fishfinders) are endless and when you wish to add a thru hull transducer it complexes the issues. Many (not all) of your lower end sounders will not support thru hull ducers, but you can get them. I can sell you a sounder unit for as little as ~$85 or you can spend upwards of 2K for a single sounder unit.

Please provide some more information.
