When driving my brother-in-laws 79 nautique today the transmission just dropped out and the engine went into free rev . There is no forward or reverse. The cable still is fine. Does anyone know where to buy either a new or a rebuilt unit to just swap out. This boat is a one owner and this is the 1st major issue we have had. Boating season in WI is pretty short and would like to get it back in the water ASAP.

Pull it out first, it may not be the trans could be the dampner. Check out http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=26877&KW=&PID=343360&title=85-mastercraft-transmission-problems#343360" rel="nofollow - this thread seems to be alot of this happening lately. If it turns out to be the trans, http://fantasticfinishmarine.net/" rel="nofollow - FFm is the place to go.The trans will UPS in a milk crate, call them tell them you were refered by CCF, they might even have exchange units.

Gary S Thanks for the info it turned out to be the dampner and is back in the water running as great as always. Everyone seemed quite surprised the original lasted 33 . Again much appreciated.
