Sup guys... I live in Arkansas and recently had a bad run in with a stump on Lake Oachita. I managed to bent the shaft, bracket, and prop. Now the prop is getting fixed and I am going to put the bracket in a press to fix it myself... no big problemo there. However, I am on here looking for information about the best place to get a shaft straightened or to buy a new one. I am going to talk to my local machine shop and see whats up there. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I too suggest the ARE shaft/coupling system. Yes, shafts can be straightened but results are varied. Once stretched, the shaft likes to go back to the bent position.

BTW, that thing you called a "bracket" is the strut. As long as it's out, you might as well put a new cutlass bearing in it.

What is the boat?

you also may have a crack in the untapered end where they key goes into the key way, this is why mine got scrapped.

JB,
Besides Skidim, I suggest giving Billy or Karen a call for a price comparison. Call 318-386-2825. They operate mycorrectcraftparts.com

Thanks for the info. I have a 75 Ski Nautique. Just totally reworked the interior. New wood, fiberglass, carpet, and interior.

I got the same problem; shaft got bent from hitting a rock on Crooked lake Indiana. Been on this lake for 20 years never seen the water this low. I may look into ARE shaft system instead of trying to straighten mine.
