We may be interested depending on what weekend it falls on. We do a lot of camping in the summer and we book most of our campgrounds early in the year. We're 50 miles west of chicago. Travel is no problem as we tow our boat with a 31 foot motorhome where ever we go.

Well, I live in CA and don't have a classic boat, but if you guys put this together, I'd give serious consideration to flying in. Great group of people here, and I'd like to meet some of you. And, of course, love these boats.

I too would love to meet some of the great people on this awesome site we enjoy so much. Maybe we could tie something into the Reunions. I ran into the famous ReidP in Orlandos reunion. Haven't seen much from him or J_I_H for awhile
BKH: if you are making plane reservations, don't forget; you've got a standing invite here for the Orlando Reunion...john

We have all winter to plan...suggestions for lakes? Lets do get this thing on!

The Lake...Brewski...you guys are in Missouri right? Sound fun?

Mojo...near chicago is about to score a Nuatique I believe...I know you'd be in! Good luck man! Hope to see you in the diaries soon!

Don't exactly have a classic...97 SNOB. But I did grow up around the "2001"s and a couple Mustangs. My brother and I still have my dads 71 Martinique...Holman Moody with a Holley 4 barrell. Rebuilding the engine this winter. I would be very interested if you don't mind having a newer boat there. I live in South Bend, which is in north central Indiana (where Notre Dame is located) I'd love to bring them both, but I don't think the trailer that the Martinique is on would make it. It's pretty rough

Hell Yes!! The more the better! Mustangs, martiniques, classics, ect. ect. Especially you SS mustang/barracuda guys, I'd love to drive or ride in one!!Hopefully we can find a great place to all meet before summer so that minimum drive for all can be achieved. For a get together like this i think a little get away from the normal home lakes would be great! and meeting all the awesome people from this site! Hey gary we need to brainstorm for places....( And all input from you guys would be great) How is that classic comming along? Shoot me an e-mail budy.

Paul,   P.S. I need a new trailer for my classic if you guys no where i can find one to make this trip more dependable.

I'll throw out the first site suggestion although it may not work for everyone it's all I can come up with here in my area.

I suggest the Illinois River in the Ottowa Illinois Area. Put in point could be Starved Rock State Park. They have a nice ramp and we could Probably reserve a picnik/ cookout area for during the day.

http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/parks/i&m/east/starve/park.htm - Starved Rock State Park

There is camping within 10 minutes of the park and several hotels nearby.

The River runs south of the put in all the way down to Peoria (60+ Miles)without having to go through any locks. It can get pretty busy on a summer weekend though but that may be a problem anywhere. There are some good skiing spots along the way or miles of good cruising.

Excellent hiking if some of the family wants to venture out away from the water.

Most of my boating has been North of the park and it's pretty nice but you have to go through a lock to get there, if anyone runs the southern part of the river and has input please speak up.

This may be further north than you guys were thinking buts it's all I know, any further south is unexplorered wilderness for me but I'm game for that too.

Lets start a list and any suggestion can be added... then narrow it down...I will add a couple...add some notes with each suggestion...the pros and the cons!

1.Straved rock (illinois river)see last post.
2.Kentucky lake (not too busy, huge & plenty of camping and lodging and slips...could be a hall for you guys north (5 hours from central IL...7hrs from KC).
3.Mark Twain lake (good central location...low traffic...good size lake)
4) Table Rock or Bull shoals....a bit far for some perhaps...I hear the water is clear for 30 feet!
5.Lake shelbyville (Central IL...nice lake...good size...High big boat traffic though)
6.Lake of the Ozarks....Again high traffic with lots of large boats...Ideal spot in every other aspect...are there areas on the lake that are away from the traffic?)

Just a few places to get us started thinking! If anyone can give input on the lakes mentioned or others (even if you can't make it)...it will help.

Stang 72,
Hell yes, we could hook up the band and have a hell of a reunion as long as it wasnt to far for the guys in my band? WWW.teacherzpet.net Check out our web. site. The only expenses when it comes to the band would be the expense of our sound production ($200.00)that we hire for all our Gigs and a little gas money for the other guys,(the other 3 guys in the band)Maybee we could pass a hat just to cover some of that stuff? I would donate my time of course! If this sounds like to much just let me know ? OH Yea its all starting to look better all the time!! What do you all think

The best and worst part of the annual CC reunions is getting to see all the boats together, but not in the water. I think this is an absolutely wonderful idea! Think of that awesome roar of a whole group of CC's cruising in one big pack!

67Nauti, great idea! I do hope it will come together. I would also like to suggest a couple sites.

The Chain of Lakes and Fox River in Northern Illinois.
http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/R2/CHAINO.HTM - Chain of Lakes State Park
On the upside:
Camping, lodging, food, beverage, sights, large body of water, tons of marinas, restaurants and bars, great place to see and be seen, Blarneys Island (lots of boat parking, maybe arange reserved parking for group?), Sand bars, generally fun place to boat.
On the downside:
Not the clearest water, heavy traffic, skiing only good in early AM.

lake Geneva, WI:
On the Upside:
beautiful large lake, clean water, surrounded by beautiful homes
On the Downside:
No camping on the lake, heavy traffic, skiing

Good luck working all out.

Thanks all...for the suggestions and keep um comming! Some good options!
There certainly appears to be many who want to see this happen...I'm am getting some emails too! I think that once we have a good idea how many and where people will be comming from...we can see what location works best for the majority of people!
Once a location and date are set , I would be more that happy to put the wife on an information package mission...lodging,camping,docking...area activities etc.

Paul...can you rebuild your old trailer...sand blast and paint? They often times look worse than they really are! When ya gonna post that picture!(you know which one)

Congrats to ReidP...he scored another! I'm sure soon we will see another diary addition! Soon he'll be more famous than the Beatles!

GOOSE BUMPS!!!!!! Just.....thinkin of all those cc,s running in the water at one time!!!!!

Anywhere in IL /southern Wisconsin area would be good for me. I would suggest trying to stay out of "heavy-traffic" areas tho.....just not much fun ...Ive seen 2-3 foot continous wakes/swells on the fox river...also not sure about "user permits" there?

If a location works,...Count me and the 64 American Skier in!!!!!!

Stang... You're right, I'm close and counting the hours !!

Here's my 2 cents.. I've boated all these bodies of water mentioned so far, for the exception of the Ozarks. Mid summer is definitly busy on most of these lakes mid day (the time, we all head off and wait for flatter water).

We own property on Green Lake in Central Wisc. It's the deepest lake in WI and in my opinion is never busy.. There are plenty of hotels, campgrounds, eating establishments, and taverns. They even have a bandshell just off our town's marian launch in the park. We moor a larger boat at the marina there and know the owners very well. They host other boating events as well does the local on water supper club. There are woden classics abound on this lake for everyone to awe over..

If there is a concensous to have me look into this further, I could arrange a show of boats at any one of the local (on water) locations, I also know several owners of bed and breakfast hotels in the area to help out with accommodations..

Green Lake is about 3-3-1/2 hours from O'Hare airport, and is just out of reach from the Weekend warriors of Chicag.. Just a thought if anyone would like a taste of prestine Northern lake boating, I would be happy to assist everyone and make some calls... The time is now, hotels book up before you know it..

I'm certainly open to anything, and there are great suggestions here.

Yes 62Wood,
Everyone boating the Chain must register, pay and display a sticker on the windshield.. I believe the fine is up to $75 bucks...

Mojo, I'm lucky we didn't get nabbed on the chain for no sticker. We went there once this summer to check it out and I'll never go back. That was just way too busy for me, It was so rough I never even opened the boat up once. It's probably a great place to live on if you can get out either early or late in the day but it's no place for me on a sunday afternoon.

I picked up a travel guide last time we were in Wisc. and Green lake looks pretty darn nice. It's on our list of places to check out over the winter for camping/boating this summer.

Alan,
Growing up, we boated/ski'd there.. It was nicknamed "Death" lake, due to the drunk boating accidents each summer.. After pulling up to the ramp one day, seeing a boat separated in half and two white sheets across an adult and a child, my parents never took us back... Yes, very busy. The sticker is a rip off too !!!

Check out Green Lake this summer, you won't regret it..Largest, unused lake you'll boat on...

I'm a newbie on the site and think this sounds like a geat idea. My buddies and I went on a trip to Lake Delhi In northeastern Iowa this summer and there was literally no one on that lake and its always glass!! It was great for camping and skiing but not much for hotels and resturants. We own an baby blue and white 88' 2001(Owned a green 74 skier before) and I always wanted to attend the CC reunions. You wouldnt be opposed to a newbie father and sons comming, would ya?

Hey everyone,

Stang 72 mentioned bull shoals or table rock lakes, even better down close to bull shoals (arkansas)is Beaver lake.... Water is so clear they hold skuba diving meets there every year! Plenty of hotels, Cabins on the lake and tourism, euricka springs very close with lots of bed and breakfast, hotels in town. Very little boat traffic on the water at all, Very beautiful there!

Stang,... picture on its way to the site!(you no wich one) and nice feature boat there Stang.

Paul,

Checked out that lake...it does offer all and surrounded by natual beauty...splended county!
Well worth some extra driving hrs even for the northern ILL. guys ...it's about 7.5 hrs from decatur...about 10 from Chicago.Might make it in striking distance for our southern bros...texas ETC.
Illinios guy's...we could caravan together...go a few days early and stop for a day somewhere inbetween...???? Seriously give it some thought...I know it's a bit of a drive...but it looks soooo good. Those N Arkanas Ozark lakes are un-friggin-believable!!!! Deep , clear , rocky bluffs...lot's to do!Take the family for a week!

Stang,

Table Rock would be 570 miles(10 hours) for us, that may be a little out of our range for just a weekend getaway. If I could manage to put a few extra days of vacation on it we may still be up for it. Tough for me to commit to it since I am self employeed and business dictates when I can and can't take extra time off. 8 years now and I haven't put a full weeks vaca together yet.

5-6 hour drive is no sweat though, that gets us to southern Illinois/Kentuckey.

I think if you guys try too hard to accomodate everyone the event will never happen, I suggest you set a date and a place and those that can make it will. If the event is a big hit and you do it again just select a different site that might favor those that couldn't make the first one.

81...very good point....we can't make it work for all...damn!I will get together with Paul and see how far he want's to drive...
Mark Twain could work...good size lake...clean (not Ozark clean).Low traffic...plenty of lodging.Downside...not much of anything on the lake ...but water and bluffs.
Green Lake sounded very nice...would be a long drive for paul...H-ll it's his idea , gotta keep it close for his sake.
Kentucy / Barkley????
81...8 years and not a full week... do your self a favor....take some time off man!

I know Its a long drive for some of you illinois boys but once you have experienced Beaver lake and euricka springs you will never forget it! Tons of camping and site seeing and marina on the lake, Its awesome!!! Hey stang just because its my idea doesnt mean that i wont comprimise location. This thing should be worth the drive anywhere we have it.I will make it wherever we have it. Soon we will all make a decision and hopefully many can make it!(Your right we wont be able to make everyone happy) A reunion on the water would be so cool!!! Keep those suggestions comming guys! We could do any Mo. lake if you guys want to? That wouldnt be a long drive for Ya. Table rock, Pom de tar ect ect.

My experience with this kind of event is to pick a weekend and a location, central to most interested parties.

The sooner we decide, the longer folks have to plan to get there.

After the 4th of July and prior to the end of August, will be the most family friendly dates. (Less extra-curricular activites.)

Decatur IL...will be there period.
If it's a long drive...we will go for a week!
might even trail two!

One main consideration is...Paul posted this one and is located in KC. Should be near his neck of the woods (reasonably close anyway)!

Make it a yearly event in a different spot!

See ya there...

62 wood...yes,you can have them all...just keep trying you'll eventually wear her down!

I like 65 cuda's Idea. This thing will hopefully become a yearly get together and we can alternate locations(North & south). Stang and i will put our heads together and Iron out this thing to best suit everyone (if possible). Hopefully no one will be offended once location is set. Green lake is a possibility if i can get my buddy to take his RV ? Keep the locations comming! I think We will make final location Before Dec. 15 !

For what it's worth, I have the event coordinators at our local on-water supper club looking into there 06' summer schedule for a day to put on an in-water boat show. They hold a "wooden" boat show every year. The food is good and the beers are cold at this place. There is room for about 10-12 boats plus a large parking lot for trailer parking...

There are also hotels with slips available to moor your CC's. If Green Lake WI is of interest check out this site for details.

www.greenlakecc.com

If it's a Northern trip you want to make, I would help set it up. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, places book quickly, and there are certain weekends to stay away from, so sooner the better for decisions to be made....

Just bought a 1975 Torino that was for sale on this website. We love it! Hopefully it will be ready by this summer. Please include us in any plans. We live in Mason, OH by Kings Island amusement park. We are about 20 miles north of Cincinnati.

We bought the boat in Wisconsin which was nothing to get to. We are about 5 hours from Chicago and would be willing to go anywhere around the areas you mentioned.

So count us in...

On a seperate note, anyone know anything about Torinos and vdrives? Any advice? Also, looking for the serial number on the hull and cant find one. There is nothing on the transom or anywhere else that I would expect it. I found some number throughout the engine compartment. Do any of these numbers mean anything to anyone? EOHM 4166-2-RW or 9E27 090E 9425E or 351 W 70 4 or A15 K207 A66.

Thanks!

One of those is the serial number for the motor, and it also is telling you that the motor is RH rotation. Also it is a 351 Windsor, and the other is probably the serial number for your velvet drive.

Gary,

We are in Mason, OH - Where do you go boating? We were in Cumberland for about five years then this past year came up to the Ohio River. We sold our bigger boat because we missed the correct craft we sold. Had to get another one which is how we ended up with the Torino.

Would like to get together around Ohio/Kentucky area some time as well. Let's push to have the reunion at Lake Cumberland or Norris Lake.

Scott,

I am just down the street from you in Loveland. The Barracuda SS is going to get stripped down after the holidays and should look great for the reunion.

Looking forward to it.

Looking at where some of the other posters are coming from, Kentucky lake may be a good compromise.

It wouldnt take a lot to have a couple of "regional reunions". I like the Green lake Wi idea myself, but the guys in Ohio,Ky, Mo,etc could put together someting in their areas also....
Heck , do them different weekends and maybe we can make a "summer" of it!!!

OK Keith,

Time to step up. I think you need to start organizing the New England chapter reunion. Obviously somewhere in the New Hampshire Lakes region. I bought my Tique in Wolfeboro, home of the NH antique boat museum... A likely target. Unfortunately I'm up here but the Tique is in NC. Ok everyone, how about a Lake Norman reunion. Just kidding. Just jealous because midwest is a little out of range for me and I would really like to be there. (Maybe I could talk scott out of his torino)

Stang, Hopefully cosmetics only...scratches, gauges etc. and a qt of gelcoat maybe. It just has to look good because we still dont know how to ski. That's why we went with the v drive...more room to eat and drink! We are hoping to attempt skiing this summer...that should be funny!

Be warned. I understand they are quite loud (and that's a bad thing?) It is my understanding there is so little space between the engine and the transom that the exhaust manifolds practically hook directly up to the exhaust ports.

Reminds me of another boat I was tempted to get when I was looking for my tique. I saw an ad for an old donzi 2+3 with a v-drive. I thought it was a misprint or that the guy didn't know what he was talking about because I thought donzies only came in I/Os. I went to look at it and sure enough it was a v-drive. Very hip and unique boat. Tempting, but the engine was a basketcase in the guys basement and since I am not overly mechanically inclined, I passed.

the guy I bought that Torino from, said it was loud.Hey where did you get that picture? I've been looking for other pictures of Torinos to see if my 75 has been altered. For example.. there are two Nautique stickers on the boat...that does'nt seem right. also, one large air scoop in the engine hatch over the carb.

The photo I posted above is a v-drive Donzi (I just posted that in case anyone didn't believe me) The Torino is pretty allusive as far as getting pictures. In the 68 and 72 brochures there are pictures of the Separator version (with the bat boat windshields). The 75 brochure shows the separator with one windshield. Not sure of the difference between Torino and Separator, but you don't see any brochure info here about the Torino. Couple other Torinos in the diaries. Tryan's in TN (whatever happened to Tryan?) and one that was sold in RI (near me, I looked into it but it had been sold ) Wonder where that one is now. Anyone know?

Everyone,
I love the idea of having CorrectCraftFan.com regional in-water reunions. I could even makeup shirts if there's enough interest. I tried starting a New England version two years ago but the site wasn't getting enough traffic then.

I can setup registration pages for each region through the site and add space for photos and stories post-event.

We need a single point-of-contact / event person for each region and we'll go from there. Any volunteers?

I'll take New England (but would welcome any help).

-Keith

Regonal events!!! registration page..outstanding!

I will volunteer to help in the midwest region...i'm about smack dab in the middle of this first outing...cental IL.

I think it would be very likely that turn out could be as many as 20 - 30 boats in any region!
Heres a thought(some Ideas)...6 regions...N.East, S.East, N.Midwest, S.Midwest, N.West , & S.West.
The Southern regions could host early summer (cause it's warmer)...Northern regions , late summer.
The interest level in the midwest has been strong enough , that I believe , two locations would both have good turn out.
I will suggest that if in the midwest, we want two locations (N & S)...they be Green Lake Wi(Mojo's suggestion)) & Beaver Lake (Pauls suggestion).
What do you think!
Paul...will try to call today !

Stang, just a guess, but I'm thinking turnout
in the midwest would be the strongest. perhaps it would be more effective to concentrate on the 1 or 2 geographies where you have a lot of interest right now. If those go well, might generate intersest elsewhere.

The thing is, here in California, there were only about 20 boats for the Correct Craft reuinion, and that was with lots of mailers, promotion by the dealers, etc.

Stang,

If Green lake is selected I would help out any way I can. I take some time off work between x-mas and new year and would offer to take a drive up (about 2 hours)and pickup a bunch of the areas travel guides. I could get a list of hotels, campgrounds together and mail out to those interested. I found a campground on the net that looks to be right on the lake and would like to check that out for myself anyway.

If the site is determined before x-mas let me know and I'll plan a day.

I've attended either the OH or FL reunions every year for the last 7 years. It's right at 500 miles to either of those locations from Charlotte. So I'm good to drag one to anything close to that and maybe a little further, ESPECIALLY with the opportunity to splash the boats as opposed to sitting in a parking lot. And I never seem to travel alone. Somewhere in Kentucky sounds great, but I'm game regardless. Oh, and sorry about the b-ball game last night Wildcat fans. I'll know better than to bring a light blue boat to the bluegrass lakes.

And Stang, the new ebay Classic splashed today as well. Ear to ear. All it needs is a new front seat bottom. I've only got an hour on the 390 Ford big block which hadn't been run in 3 years, but it seems to be an original Interceptor from everything I can tell, and it runs good and strong. I'll try to get some picts posted.

If you fly out BKH, you can commandeer(sp) one of ours. I'm stoked!

Hey All,

Gary and i had a conversation on the phone today (tue.) and the final date was made. Drum roll please..............................JUNE 24th 2006 I hope this works for everyone? Now the location i will leave to a vote and majority wins.... Please leave your vote for either green lakes WI. or Beaver Lake AR. Either place will be and awesome place to get together and plenty of accomidations for lodging and tourism!!And both lakes are very low traffic. This thing is a first time thing and i think a few years later and alot more input on this site, we can make several site reunions every year and hopefully get all of the CC family out to meet and show off there toys (The one with the most toys wins)Please no hard feelings if this thing doesn't work for you but we will eventually have one that will fit your area!!! Either place is cool with me, Both will be a long drive for me but no big deal, I will not miss this thing,You all sound like a great time so place you vote and i will see ya there! Once we make the final location we then can talk about Photos t-shirts and future reunions... Oh and stang i will get those motivational photo's on here but someone will have to show me how to do it. I might be mechanicaly inclined but computer illiterate..

See ya all and thanks for all the input

Not to throw you a curveball but what date is the Ohio CC re-union put on by Midwest CC? Last year was June 25th. Is there a possible conflict, I'd rather go where I can get the boat wet anyway.

Otherwise my vote goes to Greenlake.

Paul...I have a recent post called "photos"
See that one to learn how...there are a couple ways.
81nautique good point...wonder when they set a date....wonder who it would effect!

The more input the better! Keep it comming...we should have this decided very soon!So far Green lake is getting (and has been)strongest interest.

Stang,

CC website shows the Cedar Point reunion on June 24.

I would still go to Green Lake instead but something to consider.

Alan...thanks for that info. I guess the question would be...are there folks that would go the both...? We want to be mid to late June...could move date a week up or back if we know someone is for sure going to both! Now is the time to speak up!

Wanted to mention...we have members that don't own correct craft boats(yet)...sure the theme is about CC's, however, we don't want to exclude anyone...if it floats bring it! Sure we all will make fun of you , but come anyway! Meeting members on this site is also a big part of the picture...H-ll... I have a Mastercraft sittin in the garage....ooops!

Also...once things are firm...if you know of any members who might not have seen this topic, shoot them an email so everyone knows whats goin on!

81...thanks for the email...like your idea! More on that later...right?

I would recommend Lake Cumberland KY.

This lake is central to the midwest and is the largest man made lake in the area.....at 100 miles long and over 1000 miles of shoreline.

We keep our houseboat on this lake and the water is clear and the lake is large enough that you can always find a quiet cove to ski / swim in even on the busiest of weekends.

I would also recommend that the organizer of this event contact the State Dock on lake cumberland and discuss the possibility of the marina hosting such an event. This marina is always doing something fun including large concerts every weekend on a barge in the middle of Pumpkin creek, big deck parties at the marina resturant...etc. This dock is adjacent to the state park lodge which has a large buffet that overlooks the lake and lots of nice rooms to rent....it is also across the cove from another nice marina: Jamestown. There is a simiar event that goes on every year called the antique boat show, and they also host the regal boat club and other such gatherings....with the right arrangments State Dock might give space at the dock for an on the water CC show if the event were coordinated and planned there might even be some perks for the participants and maybe it could become an annual evnet....there are already a large number of CC on the lake that might come if the event were made public.

If there is interest I would recommend the organizer to contact Portia Flowers Gosser (Marketing and event director for State Dock) at: Portia@statedock.com   or call 1-888-782-8336.

For those interested you can view the State Dock Website at: www.statedock.com.

Note: I am in no way connected with State Dock or any other...I would just love to see this event come to "my" lake and have the opportunity to participate.....we currently keep our boats at Alligator II marina on this lake.

Hope this all comes together somewhere.

Scott

Just a quick update on Green Lake Wisconsin..
I sure dont want to step on anyones toes, but Ive talked with a couple of hotels in the area and both had already booked the weekend of June 17th. (I think thats father day weekend)

As for June 23-25 ,they were still ok , but anticipate filling up rapidly after the 1st of the year.. After July rates could be higher.

FYI there are only a couple of hotels on the water...one I talked with doesnt have any slips , the other is closed til next week, but that one offers boat rentals and might have docks? Room prices are going to be higher also at those places....( like $110.&up group rate)

I also called the chamber of commerce and she was very helpful with info on campgrounds, boat launches, etc. She even offered to help "promote" the reunion if we wanted. (sounds like public boat launches are no more than 10-15 mins away from downtown and may even have parks)

Soooo.. I think we should probably try and get something going soon?

     Whats everyone thinkin'?

OK Lets give this another try! I think we have narrowed this thing down to either Green lake or Beaver Lake So the next Question might be to ask ??
1)Does Green Lake have any other place right off of the lake to lodge on the 17th?

2)How many Would still be interested in having this thing as originally planned on 24th even though the cedar point is on the same weekend?

3)Move it to Mid. to late july at Green Lake.
4)Do it at Beaver lake on the 17th or 24th?

5)Do it at Beaver lake later july?

Let me know what you think and hopefully we can put this thing to bed.... We are real close now! Hang in there guys.. soon we all will be cruising together at the first annual CC reunion
