I think many of us regulars on here know this boat..a lucky few have even driven it;

Well here is the new owner of Alan's beautiful '81;

The guy here with the huge smile is a friend of mine and Bill's from our West Shore Water Ski Club days..Gene Monahan. As some on here may remember Gene lost his beautiful all original one owner '80 in a storage unit fire a few years ago. He replaced it with a 176 but just was never that happy with his new boat. This summer at Norris lake Reid (and Hollywood) joined us for 'Christmas in July' and Reid and Gene got to talking. Bill brought his laptop down to the dock and pulled up the pictures of Alan's awesome looking '81 and the rest as they say was history. By now boat and new owner and wife Donna are safetly back in Northeastern Ohio after a quick road trip. Bet this boat will be pulling the Teen Idol (Gene's son Scott) and grandson David in a few barefoot runs. Enjoy!

Just another benefit of being on this awesome site!

It's great to see it go to someone who will appreciate and take good care of it,had to be hard for Alan to let it go.

I never had the pleasure of seeing that boat in person, but heard first hand reports of how nice it is. It's great to see it going to someone who will use for its intended purpose. Gene, ENJOY! I can't imagine that there's a better '80 SN out there. It should make an excellent tubing boat!

Kidding of course, unless you like tubing. In that case, it'd make a good tubing boat.

I remember seeing this boat in person at GL 2009. Man this boat is drop dead gorgeous. When Alan had it for sale, it even crossed my mind to buy it.

Glad to see it has gone to a owner who will appreciate such a beautiful boat.

     The boat has definitely gone to a good home....Gene is from the same "old school" as JBear and myself. #1 son Dan owns two Correct Crafts and grandson David is a hot barefooter. Gene is also the father of Scott, a super 'footer who my brother still refers to as "teen idol" although the "teen idol" is getting dangerously close to his fifties!!
     Gene hasn't slowed down yet....did a "down and back" to pick up the new rig: Cleveland,Ohio to Charlotte,North Carolina and back along with water testing the boat!! 1000+ miles and and a little lake time in the same day!!
     Great family getting a great boat!

As the new owners of this awesome boat, we really appreciate all the kind words! We are heading out to the river now for its maiden voyage. The "idol" is planning to give it a good test and likely a double run with Dave. After 28 years with our 1980, we are really looking forward to getting back in a great pulling and sounding boat. The 176 was really a great boat - it was just too "new"! BTW, look for it on the For Sale page soon. It's had lots of TLC and low hours.

Hang on, a new CCFan and Alan's boat are in NE Ohio! Gene, where are you located, I'm downtown Cleveland and always looking for somebody to ski with. Gimme some details!

Congrats on the pickup, I've driven that boat, it is truly one of a kind!

We are located in Hinckley. Got the '81 just in time to winterize it! Busy fall but would be interested in getting together next year. Love the boat but need to do some engine work to ge it back to its potential. So happy to be back in an '81.

Yep, that's just right down the road from me. I know wtrski might disagree cause I've been mia for the past few weeks, but I am always up to get pulled around behind somebody else's boat.

On a slightly different note, keep your eyes open for the NEO Beers thread. Not so much during the summer, but over the winter when we're all missing our boats there's a group of us that get together every few weeks to have a couple beers and talk about missing our boats. Tim, Randy, Justin, and I are usually pretty regular, and Eric Lavene has even been known to make an appearance. We'd be happy to pull up an extra chair for another CCFan.

Congratulations Gene!

One of the nicest boats on this site IMO. Glad to see it go to a good home in NE Ohio! Where are you planning on using it mostly?

Like Adam said, Watch for the NEO Beers over the winter! If you ever need a hand, I work right over in Hudson and would be happy to lend a hand just for the opportunity to drool over that boat for a little bit!
