I have bought my first ever ski boat 2004 ski nautique 216 team air its runs great but I checked the tranny fluid and its gray and the stick looks as it the end has been broke off what type of fluid whould I put back in it and how much?

Post a picture " of the broken tranny stick, if your fluid is grey metallic colored this doesn't sound good how many hours on boat? Most all DD Correct Crafts use Merc/Dex.

there is no sign of metal i used a magnet and ran it around in the fluid it has a dirty pink gray color

appart from the colour and that stick, does the tranny works, shifts well?
that stick looks like its been rubbing against something in there. The drum comes into my mind, also the metal seems to have the blueish colour so at some point it has been very hot....
Flush it and put some fresh dex/merc type III ATF fluid. Regular no syntethics. Granted it's PCM 40a 1:1.23 tranny...

yes everything runs and sounds good we skied for about 4 hours last weekend and no problems the boat sit for a year or longer in the water and the guy had the engine oil changed new impeller and tune up so i figured i would verify everything and try to finish checking out everything but this being my first inboard i would like any advice offered just to keep it running good i dont know the hours the digital part of the guages wont work ?
