when I'm idling, my boat no longer runs at a constant speed. It's not super erratic, but I'll notice it lurch forward a bit....slow down...then catch back up.

what are the possible causes of this issue?

Ah, come on guys... It's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays... Now, you prepare that Fetzer valve with some, uh, 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need about 10 quarts of antifreeze... preferably Prestone... No... No, make that Quaker State... And wash those windows. They got filth and muck on them.

OK, seriously, maybe you could give a hint or two on which engine, carb, efi, etc.

Given your engine, I would say the most likely possibility, and conveniently the cheapest possibility would be a cracked tube inside the FCC. Do you have the Fuel Control Cell?

Check this out:

Bri, I read that thread, and although the intermittent idle is the same, I on the otherhand do not have any issues running at any speeds except idle (anywhere from 10mph to 35 mph is fine)

I will still look for that crack, but I just wanted to clarify that.

thanks a ton for your speedy response.

Jack,
They sometimes call that Loping, or rolling idle. Did you check out this thread:
http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25584&PN=1&title=poor-mans-gt40-diagnosis" rel="nofollow - http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25584&PN=1&title=poor-mans-gt40-diagnosis
It has a https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjRJOCEx-NOidGcyLTVIOFBrZnVnOURXYjU2NUpFSkE" rel="nofollow - Google Docs Spreadsheet inside too, which lays out a lot of options.

Other culprits would be Idle Air Control Valve. Another was the ECM relay, which has something to do with the way the computer gets it's power feed. I guess there is a common recall/fix for that that is laid out in one of the posts.
