| Some of the wood on the step platforms (not the bunks) on my trailer is rotten because the carpet holds moisture. I love the look of the carpeted platforms, but wonder if anybody has tried using something like Rhino Coat or other truck bedliner to coat over the wood. I've seen some people using metal to replace wood, and I don't want to go that route. I thought wood, if coated, may keep moisture out and prevent rusting the trailer vs carpet. Or would coating wood just trap moisture in and make it rot more quickly? Any ideas are appreciated! |

Brody, You've been with us for 4 years and you haven't seen the CPES mentioned in all the stringer threads?  I actually think there are a couple threads on using it for the trailer running boards! You need to spend more time on the site! Yeah, I sold my 2001 awhile ago so I don't spend much time on stringer threads. And I did search the threads but it seemed the only thing I found was recommending the diamond plate replacement. I'll look again, wise guy. So regarding applying CPES to the trailer boards, would you then put carpet back over using some adhesive? If not, what would you do to finish it off? |

Brody, After the CPES and the couple coats of epoxy, they put the carpet back on. I would epoxy the bolts into the new wood, carpet using outdoor or even contact adhesive and then bolt them back onto the trailer.
