Subject: Slowly getting fed up with "political correctness"

This picture shared by Ross Smith on Facebook was kinda the drop that spilled the cup... I'm getting really fed up with having to be politically correct to a people and a religion that has no respect for other views and opinions whatsoever, and take any excuse to kill Westerners, burn embassies, burn flags and so on...
Even if this imange contains only a fraction of thruth, it is still too much IMHO! Look, I'm neither pro Obama nor pro Romney or so (and do not want to let this dicussion turn into a political debate!), but I can not understand the idea of a Commander in Chief letting his men down because he could step on some toes in the Middle East!!! I am a patriot, as well for my country as for our allies and in my point of view, you do not let your fellow soldier on his own when he is in trouble... NO, you get out of your way to help him!!!
Also, how is it f***ing possible that a country that has the most powerful military force in the world (and is 15 years ahead in military technology) let itself get pushed around by some idiots with a few AK47's???
So here is my sincere comment on this: f*ck political correctness!
Sorry for my ranting, but really had to get this off my chest... Back to boats and bikini's...

There is not a shred of truth to it .. It's a waste of effort to expect any energy pondering it -

Perhaps our president was just trying to avoid having to do another "Apology Tour" if any muslims were offended by the USA defending itself from their attacks on our ambassador.
Wanna talk about political correctness? How about the fact that "we" (okay, Obama) won't call the shootings at Ft. Hood in Texas in 2009 in which an Army officer Nadal Hasan, who happens to be muslim, killed 13 American soldiers as he screamed "Alla Achbar" while he was shooting. Act of terror you say? Nope, "work place violence", according to Obama!
Oh, by the way, Hasan was a disciple of Anwar al-Awlaki, a muslim imam who was Hasan's "spirtual leader". I am sure it was just a coincidence that those two had communicated through emails before Hasan committed "work place violence". They probably just traded recipes.
And that my friends is political correctness! Any, you are right to be tired of it Kristof.

I am sick of the fact that we (US and Europe) always have to apologize to the muslim community when trivial things upset them in a way that they kill, burn and plunder everything that is not muslim...
And I read all about that incident with Nadal Hassan... It proves to me that they cannot be trusted... But that makes me a racist I guess. Because we have to be politically correct in this little country of mine, any religion and nationality has to be allowed in the Belgian army... WTF??!!

To elaborate on this topic a little more... And this is gonna be a long post, so bash me and sue me for being a patriot and a soldier if you want... I recently recieved a gift of the wife of one of our members here. She sent me a book called "Lone survivor" by Marcus Luttrell, who survived an ambush in Afghanistan as a member of Seal Team 10. This book gives some insight on the mess that is happening down there. And I'm gonna write a few passages here from that book, that IMHO hit the nail on the head on the so called ROE's (Rules Of Engagement) soldiers over there have to face every day...
"... Our rules of engagement in Afghanistan specified that we could not shoot, kill or injure unarmed civilians. But what about the unarmed civilian who was a skilled spy for the illegal forces we were trying to remove?..."
"... How about the innocent-looking camel drovers making their way through the mountain passes with enough high explosives strapped to the backs of their beasts to blow up Yankee Stadium? How about those guys?..."
"... We were sent to Afghanistan to carry out hugely dangerous missions. But we were also told that we could not shoot that camel drover before he blew up all of us, because he might be an unarmed civilian just taking his dynamite for a walk..."
"... These terrorist/insurgents know the rules as well as they did in Iraq. They're not their rules. They're our rules, the rules of the western countries, the civilized side of the world. And every terrorist knows how to manipulate them in their own favor. Otherwise the camel drovers would be carrying guns. But they don't. Because they know we are probably scared to shoot them, because we might get charged with murder..."
"... And if we did shoot a couple of them, they would be on their cell phones with the speed of ten thousand gigabites, direct to the Arab television station Al-Jazeera..."
"... The truth is, in this kind of terrorist/insurgent warfare, no one can tell who's a civilian and who's not. So what's the point of framing rules that cannot be comprehensively carried out by anyone?..."
"... Making sense of the ROEs in real time situations is almost impossible..."
"... When we're patrolling those mountains, trying everything we know to stop the Taliban regrouping, striving to find and arrest the top commanders and explosive experts, we are always surrounded by a well-armed, hostile enemy whose avowed intention is to kill us all..."
"... And we'll go there. All day. Every day. We'll do what we're supposed to do, to the letter, or die in the attempt. On behalf of the USA. But don't tell us who to attack. That ought to be up to us, the military. And if the liberal media and political community cannot accept that sometimes the wrong people get killed in war, then I can only suggest they first grow up and then serve a short stint op in the Hindu Kush. They probably would not survive..."
"... In the global war on terror, we have rules, and our opponents use them against us. We try to be reasonable; they will stop at nothing..."
"... And they don't have rules of engagement. Thus we have an extra element of fear and danger when we go into combat against the Taliban or Al-Qaeda - the fear of our own, the fear of what our own navy judge advocate general might rule against us, the fear of the American media and their unfortunate effect on American politicians..."
I can only recommend this book to everyone here... I've done a tour in Yougoslavia an in Kosovo, which, compared with the chaos in Afghanistan were a nice vacation , and there too, we were faced with these ROEs and the media, which made our job almost impossible. And the passages from the book I wrote above are the same things I hear from my colleagues everytime they return from a tour in Afghanistan...

Kevin, I hope you're not thinking about what I'm thinking you are thinking... I don't want to let this thread turn into an Obama bashing... We have enough threads for that subject on here...

The names on the pictures might be right?
The overall assertion is garbage and should be removed from this site and any reasonable discussion.
The rules of engagement topic is certainly a different discussion. One that is quite difficult in this particular incident as Libya is not a war zone or someplace that we have troops but rather an independant country that we are trying to support.

We blew out the previous regime, so who are we supporting and how? Do we have a policy in place for Libya?

We helped the Libyan people get rid of a scumbag dictator who was a mass murderer of Americans. America and the world are immeasurably better off for that activity and none of this changes that. Up here in Syracuse New York we don't forgive what that man did, nor do we take kindly to suggestions that we would be better off now if he was still in power.

I would consider a heavily armed, deliberate attach on U.S. soveriegn soil a war zone.

Watching the news on our Belgian channel here... News item on the civil war going on in Syria. Some rebels captured a group of soldiers from the army of president Assad... The rebels made the captured soldiers lie on the ground kicking them in the face while shouting "Allah akhbar!!" like a hundred times... The next thing they do is completely empty their AK47 magazines on them
Looking at these barbarians (sorry, but I cannot find a better word for these people), I immediatly had to think about another passage in the book I mentionned 10 posts earlier: "... we are not fighting under the rules of Geneva IV Article 4."
If they are not killing US or European soldiers, they kill their own in the same horrific and barbaric manner, all in the name of Allah... And we have to watch our ass not killing the so called unarmed civilian over there in case some woolen sock wearing treehugger might accuse us for being violent and being murderers???????
My answer to you treehuggers: Go f*ck yourself! Why don't you go and try to reason with these fanatics... Sincerely, A patriotic soldier.

Just wondering if you all want to weigh in or not, how many have been in the military that have so solidly made their point here? Better yet have you ever seen any action in a war.

Jack,
I cannot say I have seen that much "action" in war... But I have done a tour in Yougoslavia and one in Kosovo... I've been shot at and saw my driver being gunned down in front of my eyes... But, as I mentionned before in this thread, these missions were a walk in the park compared to what's happening with the religeous fanatics in Afghanistan (from what I gather from my colleagues after their tour over there).
Oh, and I cannot vote in your country... But I also said i do not want to make this one more electoral discussion. We already have those topics here
