I recently read a thread which had links to sources for pin striping materials. I have searched this site alot for the thread with no luck. The business had a wide variety of colors and great prices. Can someone point me to the link? I do remember there were 2 mabey 3 pin stripe businesses/links listed in the thread.

Tom, Here is the website where I got the pinstriping for my truck when I repainted it to match the boat a few years ago. The pinstriping matched EXACTLY in color and size (1/2" & 1/4") so the left over stuff I have will be used on the boat as needed.

These guys will make it for you, but the setup charges kill you for a single roll purchase.

Thanks, I was hoping I could buy a roll with both the 1/2" and 1/4" together for easy of application. So I guess everyone is doing 2 individual steps.....One with the 1/2" tape and then apply the 1/4". Is that correct?

Thanks.......Tom

You can buy the single roll with both sizes on it in any of their standard colors at the place I posted above. They will make you a roll with a 1/2" stripe, 1/4" gap and 1/4" stripe. You can get both stripes the same color, or they can be different, but they charge a 65 dollar setup fee, and it gets pricey for a single roll, if it was spread out over 10 or so rolls it wouldn't be to bad.

Posted By: Morfoot
Date Posted: January-17-2013 at 9:24am
Sounds good Zach...... Tom, Yes I applied the 1/2" stripe first using the straight line of the color change one the truck. I then cut several pieces of the 1/4" about an 1" long, butted them on top of the 1/2" spaced them down the side of the truck to use as spacers for the second stripe. My neighbor (jcamp72) helped me apply the second stripe as I started on the front and ran the 1/2 the length of the truck and he stuck the stripe to the vehicle. It worked better then I thought and wasn't that difficult.

So my last resort is a 2 step process for pin stripes unless we find 2 stripe tape or I pay the set up fee:( I do not need the tape for a couple of weeks...in the mean time I will keep looking.
Note: NautiqueParts.com has the double tape in Black and White but no Medium gray. Thanks Guys..

Tom, Medium grey 1/4 inch 150' roll $ 13.40 the 1/2 goes up a bit at $26.20. They only sell the more common colors in the 150' rolls. Those prices are before the CCF.com 10% discount.

I started a previous thread on this ('89 Pinstriping). I am also still looking for the med gray with the 1/4" and 1/2" on the same roll. Let me know if there is a group buy or if someone finds it elsewhere. Thanks.

They say theres a 65 dollar charge on top of the roll prices, so a single roll of 1/2" and 1/4" with a 1/4" gap in their premium pinstriping material ends up costing around 120 bucks for a 150 foot roll, ($65 setup, $23 for 1/4", $29 for 1/2") and probably around 95 for their standard material (65 setup, 13 for 1/4", 15 for 1/2"). their standard vinyl is a 5 year outdoor life, premium is 7 year life. They come backed to maintain the spacing, you stick them on and then remove the backing from the tape after its positioned so the gap is maintained.

Of course if someone orders 10 rolls (or 50 rolls) theres only one setup fee so it becomes more affordable. Maybe they will setup a commercial account with someone who can gaurantee some minimum order amount over a year.

Posted By: phatsat67
Date Posted: January-17-2013 at 4:03pm
I will try to get in touch with them. I like the idea of the stuff being backed and not laid on clear vinyl to maintain the spacing.

All depends on $$$$.

Thanks. I would bet they had runs done from that company. Seems to be the only one willing to do doubles that large. The annoying thing is that Universal Products(who I get stripes from) Made the originals. I still have the UP part number but they won't make them...

Just got in touch with Multi Line Stripes. They are working prices for an order of 10 150' rolls. Color does not change pricing so anyone can shoot me colors and I hope we can get the pricing down and I will make a little and save you a little. They initially didnt want to do any discounts on quantity pricing but I will see what I can work with them.

Omit that last post I deleted if anyone saw it.

Heres the skinny. If I order 10 of these roles (group buy pricing) don't actually need to sell all 10 rolls right now but if I can help anyone out I could get these to you for $78 a piece + shipping in any color you so desire. 150' rolls with proper spacing and tape sizes.

Zach,

Thanks for doing the research on this. I could live with gray, dark gray, med gray (only available in the premium), or even silver.

FYI: At least on my '89, I know the original pinstripe is supposed to match the thinner accent stripe on the seats/upohlstry. Mine is a darker gray or graphite color.

Anything close would be great. Like I said before, I will definately take a roll if you go forward with this. Thanks again

I will also need help from you guys if I have to order some stocking rolls. I would like to sell as many pre sold rolls as possible as I will be taking the risk of ordering blue or colors other than black based on what I think customers will need the most.

I know you all want it fast but Lets take a week or so and grab guarnteed customers with order colors.

I was thinking of switching it up a bit and doing a Dark gun metal metallic pinstripe and a dark gun metal metallic shadow on my new graphics ;).

Seems to a few asking for the gray, I've never really paid attention to the stripes, they don't stand out much in pics.

I would like to have more than 5 possible 6 or 7 orders Myself included..

Has anyone got the black tape from Nautique parts? I like the idea better of the double not having clear backing that stays with the stripes. The stuff on my boat now is black with a clear overlay and the clear is starting to shrink up and look bad. This could be prevented as the way they do it will just leave the two black stripes.

Lets see if we can rouse a few more! I can also check and see if they might make me 2 less rolls for the same price.

Also the most common colors for the extra rolls taking suggestions. Maybe medium grey and bright blue?

I have a customer bringing in an 87 footer for gel work and graphics so Im sure I could sell him on a roll. Another friend of ours just picked up a 89 yellow footer so thats a possibility too.

Nope, have two separate rolls of light blue, but I can't draw a straight line, let alone lay down 2 parallel ones in tape, so I would much rather have a single wider stripe with both stripes prespaced. Wider is easier to get on straight over long distances. It will go in the parts box until I finish getting the paint off the hull and the temp goes back up in the spring, but at least I'll have it on hand.

Ok, Finally got the color chart from the new supplier. They have a massive ammount of colors to choose from. I pictured a few so we can all decide which is the most correct. Should be right at 48 a roll. Metallic makes it more but the two color stripes should stay the same. Tried to get the names and numbers visible in the pictures.

Dove gray looks like the single 1/2" pin used between the red and black stripes on my '90... not sure if they ever used the lighter gray in a double pin on the 2001 though?

I think the Ruby or Dark red is closer to the pin used on the burgundy/gray boats. I assume the same color was used on some burgundy/white boats. Do they have anything darker than Medium Gray? There was a darker gray used on some of the burgundy boats as well (like TBeard's).

Bay blue looks pretty good!

I have light grey on my '89, however I don't think this is original. I believe the pinstripe should be the same color as the third accent stripe on the original upohlstery, so I was thinking of switching to something darker. Med. grey looks to be the closest, but the boat is still in storage, so I can only compare to pictures.

I'm thinking MED grey. I have a bunch of original suff but thats 20+ years old so I'm sure the color has changed slightly over that time. I think Med grey is the closest we are going to get. I think I would rather be one shade off and pay 48 bucks and not 93 like the other place charges for an individual roll.

I'm going to say Cardinal for the red because the tomato IMHO is a bit too orange? I'm going to try to find my UP chart today to compare.

What about the blues? Is the bay blue, the lightest they have, but it seems a bit darker than the code 84 light blue from the other supplier, could be my monitors though. Is the roll you have with it, original from (or used by)CC?

I was just joking about the blacks. The other names are various types of metallic. Pretty cool looking if thats what you want.

Bay blue seems to be the only option from them. The stripe set I had in my hand is original but as I said I can't imagine it is the exact same color as when it was new being 20+ years old.

I will lay all those blacks together if you want?

Zach,

Just wanted to see what the status of this project is. Are you going to stock some of the more common colors or do we need to order individual rolls? I already gave you my credit card info, but I have been to busy to follow up. I'm looking for the Medium Gray. Let us know. Thanks again for coordinating this.

Scott, I know Zachary placed the order and what he told me was he would'nt charge me till he got them in. Thought you would like to know. I also asked for the grey. Bones.

Looky there!

They had a shortage on the Bay Blue rolls so they will be here next week for any of you who ordered those. I'm hungry and it's lunch time so you all should be getting some confirmation emails from me when I get the costs figured out. The metallic a slightly hugher but still way cheaper than the other company.

Zach
Looks like I am a year late to the party. I am guessing the excel had "pacific blue" now you recommend bay blue. 1/4 and 1/2 next time you order, also the grey single 1/2" Dove grey I think you said.
