I know how you southerners like to gloat. It is -9 degrees as I go to start my work van this morning. Projected high -5, tonight -17!!!!!! Might be the year to stay home and celebrate MLK day.

Gloat? Us? Never! 60'F today so me thinks I is gonna ride the motorcicle today. If my riser gaskets come in this morning I is gonna take 'Miss Scarlett' for a ride! But NO we ain't gloating!

I'm sure the MLK center in downtown Atlanta will be buzzing today with folks talking him up and etc but I got better things to do like paying my bills or walking my cat!

PLENTY of hot coffee/choclate on the menu for you huh Dave?

You guys haven't lived if you don't know what your car sounds like starting up, or what it feels like breathing through your nose at -10.

Wakeslayer is always a few degrees colder than me. We have a breeze also, wind chills of -25 to -45. The van did not sound to bad this morning. but tomorrow?????

My daughters school hyped MLK so much she just did not understand why I don't get the day off.

Yup - I don't like this cold. I definately will need a jacket on the boat today... it is downright frigid..........

Be safe and stay warm - ya'll!

We are finally getting some cold weather. We've been waiting for the ice to get thick enough ride the quads. Yesterday we rode mini bikes and our go cart. But not quite thick enough for the 600lb quads.
But our problem over the weekend was the wind. My dock was no match for it.

I am particulary guilty of gloating as this is my first winter as a southerner and I am loving it. Maybe not skiing weather (tho 2 weekends ago it was close with temps in the 70s and (according to my neighbor water was 54, but that seems awfully high to me)). So I am not in the water, but it is a lot of fun being able to work on the boat in the driveway. This weekend I finished scrubbing the boat, cleaning the bilge, waxing the hull, (including a chunk of time on my back doing teh bottom) cleaning and first coat of oiling the platform, and removing and freshening up the paint on my trailer wheels. Was a real treat to be able to do all that in january. And after that I still had time to wash both cars. Nope, don't miss snow and ice at all.

Yup, It's cold here in the Chicago area too. It will be worse tomorrow. Wouldn't you know today, tomorrow and Wednesday we are putting the steel framework and the 2 250 ton chillers on the roof at work!!!

We like it cold here. This is what we do when we can't be IN the water. I don't have one of these...yet, but the Z50 will be on the ice this coming weekend. These guys have Doodle Bug minis, with about $1500 in upgrades. Two of these minis did about 50mph.

Love the hot chocolate with the mini marshmallows! Of course a little peppermint schnapps is not a bad addition either.

Is it sick that I am a little disappointed that we only got down to -11.3?
I took a video with the sounds the 351 makes when starting that cold (my work van, I would not do that to my boat). Now I just need to figure out how to get it from my phone to here.

Haha. It was 3 here. The 170k mile 360 in my Dakota never failed me once in past winters but it sounded like a 15 to 1 race motor cranking over when it got this cold out. I expected the new truck to crank slower but it cranked over fast and fired up with no protest.

In the state, not AT it.

They're finishing a wind project, and from what I've heard, they picked a fine location.

Dodged the biggest bullet, the weather idiots predicted 6-12 overnight and we got one. They must be trained and run by the same people responsible for the GAO employees, as they are the only groups that can be consistently wrong and yet stay employed with credibility. The storm might just be late because it is coming down pretty good right now. It is April 11th, WTF? You guys from the south and Kristoff are NOT helping.
