Greetings All!

It's getting time for me to start thinking about replacing my OSCO FLCR818 manifolds on my 1968 Mustang with a Ford 289. I see other brands out there that are supposed to fit. I am wondering about plumbing and other gotcha's.

Also, mine seem to drip on the aft ends which I guess is common. Can this area be repaired by welding or is it not worth it?

Supplier recommendations would be appreciated. I did not see any used ones on the for sale board.

Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the spring thaw!

Regards,

Gregman

Greg,
If you are happy with the Osco's, don't mind their appearance and want to save the money, why don't you find out where exactly they are leaking.

A aft end leak could be simply a gasket between the manifolds and the risers? Also, what's the condition of you exhaust hose? They could be leaking as well.

How about some pictures?

Here are some photos of the 289 and the OSCO Manifolds. I really think the metal has deteriorated around some of the water jackets and it's not related to a gasket leak. The exhaust hoses were leaking a bit since they were not fitted correctly by the PO. The rubber is rock hard and hard to work with on those hoses.

Thanks for your response!

If you can identify the spot where it leaks, I JBWelded a cracked manifold with good results, photos available on request.

Greg,
It sure looks like a manifold to riser gasket to me as well as core plugs in the manifolds. I highly doubt the manifolds have rotted through. Those Osco's are THICK!!
