Disconnect the wire at the oil pressure sender, don't let it touch anything and turn on the key. Report back with what happens.

My guess is that the problem might be on the dash side.

You could have accidentally connected the "S" Sender terminal directly to a ground.

I found the stock gauges on my 93 to be a little odd. Pete was saying a while back that the gauge itself shouldn't have a ground, except for the ground for the back light. Because, the sender wire is essentially a ground wire, and the sender is a variable resister to ground (in this case the engine).

Anyway, my temp gauge, seemed to have a ground terminal for the light, a sender terminal and also a ground terminal. If your oil gauge is the same way, you could have mixed them up (it would be easy to do).

Long story short, a Sender terminal connected directly to a ground, would give you this pegging effect you are getting.

I would now try it again after removing the sender wire from the back of the gauge,if it's still pegs the gauge is bad. If it's down you have a bad wire you'll have to trace out

I agree to the above and to take a look under the dash.

thx for the info. found the problem. at the engine wireing plug.i think im going to get rid of the plug and just wire all the wires direct with out plug. just can't believe this is so bad.they have butchered everything they tryed to fix. no wonder they give up and left for dead outside.

If the harness plugs are a mess that might be your best option.

Also,
You can buy a brand new engine wiring harness if you think that's in order: http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R121025A" rel="nofollow - http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R121025A
