My guard is simply a piece of stainless rub rail, bent into an arch with two countersunk screws on each side. If you do not find one, you could make one. I can take photo's with dimensions.

Chris, this is the older style that is on our '66. Now, that Gary mentions it, it does look like SS rub rail that is bent. The '68s were different as were their pylons. The 68 rope guides are solid and are not cupped like the earlier ones, although they too could have been made from some sort of rub rail. The pylons are different, too and attach to a cup like your 68 has and not a clevis like the earlier boats.

Thanks for the info Bruce. Ive been trying to reach Eric(wakeboardin2k)for months about all the hardware that came off this boat and he has not responded. There are holes in the hull telling me this boat had one. But that doesn't necessarily mean it was factory. Has the snow melted up there yet Bruce? Hahahaha, I'm ready for that search light when you can pull it.
Thanks

Chris, we bought that boat as a basket case and everything was with it except the pylon and clearence bar. I had thrown in a jetson stern light I picked up on ebay with it. The stern light needed some work, but was restorable. I am in the process of restoring one, and it can be done for the same or less than a nice one goes for on ebay.
The snow is out of the boat, so I'll get that light off today when I go up there.

As to the light are you looking for something like this Chris? Mine does not come off, as you can see it mounts under the rope guide. http://www.boatersplus.com/perko-light-stern-pole-24.html" rel="nofollow - Perko still makes a similer light that I was able to cut off the new one to the proper length. I was also able to solder the new base plate on to the original fixed socket to complete the look. You could just shorten the mast and use the whole new light and base assembly. My guide is the hollow type, boat built late 68 as a 69 model Here is the old one--
and the new one mounted in place--

Gary, that's exactly what I'm looking for. The hole in the deck where a stern light goes on my boat looks like it was altered at one time, maybe to receive a shorter light. The tow rope guard could have been added too. I'm on a quest to find all the factory parts that either came on this boat or would have been an option. I do have a taller light from my donor boat but the mast and light is different from what I have seen other boats (same vintage) outfitted with.

Chris, The stern light is still available. It's an all metal Perko. I know West still has them but do a search so West doesn't stick it up your a** with their prices.
The rope guard is made from half round SS. http://www.mcmaster.com/#stainless-steel-half-rounds/=mbh9bf" rel="nofollow - McMaster has it in short lengths There is an old thread on the exact dimensions. I'll see if I can find it.

Chris, I believe your boat should have a Jetson stern light, although the one Gary and Pete suggest would be decent if you can't find an original one. If I remember correctly, the housing was replaced on your boat with a modern Perko one. Stay after Eric if you need parts. If he still has them, he's got about everything you need.

Ive been after Eric for months... Tried calling him last weekend. Would be great to find a "jetsons" style light in restorable condition.
Thanks for the info, I'll keep after him.

I have the correct airguide gauges for this boat and would not mind getting an extra set if he's got them. Mine need to be restored. I searched long and hard for those...

Thanks for the info, I'll keep after him. | Chris, My X55 originally had the jetson stern light from the factory as well. When I got the boat back in the late 70's, it was gone (Probably at the bottom of the lake somewhere). It took some time but I eventually found and won one off Ebay. However the one I won was a non removable short staff model most likely off an outboard. I ended up making a longer staff for it as well as the electrical plug/receptacle for the base making it the removable model. It wasn't hard so that's an option as well.
They are hard to come by so keep your eye on Ebay as well.
