Im looking for a particular carb wedge plate and am wondering if such a thing exists. The existing wedge on our BFN (stock OMC part) looks like an open version of this: I want to add a spacer on top of it, which Andy (Waterdog) graciously lent me. The problem is that the angle of the carb studs is too extreme for it to install over the spacer. Im wondering if a wedge plate exists with 2 flanges for separate studs (one set from the manifold to the wedge, another from the wedge to the spacer above):  Anyone seen such a thing? If nothing like that exists, then Im left with 2 options: 1. Ditch the wedge and try the spacer by itself. 2. Get a new 4-hole wedge (like the one pictured above) and install it on top of the spacer instead of underneath it. I'm hesitant to ditch the wedge, as this engine has always had one and the floats seem to be happy with the current carb angle. Regarding option 2, I cant just install the wedge I have on top of the spacer I want to try, as it is open and the spacer is a blended one (goes from 4-holes at the carb side to open at the manifold side). I would think the wedge belongs up against the manifold if Im going to run one, but if anyone disagrees, Id love to hear why. Thanks! |

It sure does exist, I had one on the 81. Came from summit but I didn't find one in a search just now. the holes on the wider end of it are designed so you use a stud with nut to fasten the plate to the intake, the top hole is tapped to accept a carb stud. ------------- You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails |

I called Summit and they have this, which combines everything into one piece. Blended spacer and wedge: Pretty sweet piece, but I guess it should be at $264!  The tech did have an idea that would allow me to try the pieces I already have, though. Just get some threaded rod from the hardware store that matches the thread on my intake, cut some to length and bend them to accommodate the change in angle. Now why didnt I think of that?  ------------- |

That's exactly what I did with mine and I was going to write that this morning, but opted not too since it would have been construed as being being a crude, cheap, low-tech solution.
