Hey gang,

Buddy who bought my other buddy's 89 MC tristar needs some help. Wondering if you guys have any tips.

It's got the 351w ford motor (Think it's indmar conversion though). All it does is turn over. What's a good list to check/troubleshoot on this motor?

killswitch? (not sure there is one), spark, ignition? Sorry, I'm by no means a mechanic so feel free to point out the obvious. We could have missed it! Thanks!

-Mike

Start with spark and fuel.

I helped another guy on CCF with the same motor and same problem. I suggested putting gas in the tank, go figure it worked. I guess that is same advice as Tim gave...

Yup, he tried some fuel in the carbs too but not a flicker of hope. Lead me to believe that there is no spark.

Points or electronic ignition?

I'm gonna say it has points. Sorry, I know this isn't the best as you all would prefer me standing on the motor right now! Wanted to get a couple ideas/onions though for him.

pull a plug and see if you have spark...if no, start at the battery with a VOM and work your way up to isolate the issue.

As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure...
