Ok, as of yesterday, we have our trailer home and our family skier is at the gelcoat shop. Our ’94 Ram-Lin SN trailer features the “tilting trailer tongue”—is this a practical and well-conceived feature? It looks as though you actuate the bolt after removing the bow stop?   I have never used this feature but I need to get the total length of the boat on the trailer to 20’ 6” (with the swim platform removed) to fit in the 3rd bay of our garage, straight in … I could always angle it … but garage space is at a premium (this baby is coming home to stay inside where she belongs after this expensive restoration)!!! Should I stick with the tilting tongue or install a fold-away coupler (I read the principal CCF thread on this modification, included below, looks nice, but wasn’t installed on my type of trailer, i.e., one that already features a tilting tongue). I would like to get this figured out before I send the trailer to the sandblaster on Monday! Thanks in advance. If the answer is use the “tilting tongue” … does anyone have pictures of this feature in use?

I included the minimum measurement 20' 6" because ... I have to laugh about this now, I did not measure the boat ON the trailer total length ... now the boat is off and gone ... I just didn't think about it ... assumed it would fit with the tilt or the fold away?!?! Anyone know for sure?

Our trailer in the garage. Looks like I can make room and push it over ... I am still VERY curious about the tilting versus fold-away coupler (forgive the mess, we moved into our new home over the winter ... still stuff everywhere). Tomorrow I will strip the bunk boards off, the fenders, and bow stop assembly; will mark up the holes for the new bunk steps that I fabricated and the new bow stops before heading off to the sandblaster and painter on Monday.

Can you please do me a favor and snap some pictures of the locations of the decals on the trailer? The warning stickers and all..... Thanks! Steve

Steve,

These are all that remain on our '94 SN trailer ... I am working with Marty to get the trailer up to CCF "code" ... I sure hope that these images help ... as a "newbie" to working on/restoring these boats (I am more used to just skiing behind them ...), I feel that all I do is take from this site. My best ... let me now if I can help with anything else.

It looks to me once you remove the platform and tilt the front you should fit.

Thanks for the pics - That's why I asked.... Marty and I are trying to put together a "set" for our trailers (and others if they need 'em).

The tilt won't get you much clearance when the boat is on the trailer - tilting up is limited by the boat's bow. I put a swing-away on my '91 BFN trailer..... I actually lengthened the tongue to get it farther in to launch (which can be an issue around here with the V-drives) but put the swing away closer to the bow stop to get more room in the garage.
