I am in the fiberglass stage of repairing my 82 nautique floor.I have read that uv rays will deteriorate epoxy fiberglass over time. should I paint over the new fiberglass floor, or will the carpet block the uv rays.

Thanks,
Todd

The carpet will do the trick. Do not paint before installing carpet as the paint might interfer with the glue's ability to adhere to the floor. You are correct that UV light deteriorates fiberglass composites.

The bilge is painted not for UV protection, but rather for oil, grease and crude protection and to make it look nicer. Bilge paints are special paints that are resistant to oil, grease and fuel.
