alright I might get into trouble for asking but does anyone run edlebrock carbs. Ive had a heck of a time with my holley and am considering trying the edlebrock marine 750 on my 77 nauti, also does 430$ sound high for a new oil pan for 351 windsor. Any help would be much appreciated thanks guys.

750 seems a tad to big for that motor if its stock. 430 does sound high to me. i had the same trouble when i had to but a timing chain cover for mine. pcm wanted some crazy price like $650+. ordered it for a from indmar for like half of that price. which was still ridiculous!

On the oil pan, the center sump pan used on the pcm 351 W is the same as used on a ford econoline van. Try your local ford parts or a engine rebuilder, Last resort = your local wrecking yard.

I run the edelbrock carb 600cfm, we recently discussed this topic you might want to check a topic called carb help, just type it in the search window, any further questions let me know, I agree that with a stock 351 you probably don't need the 750cfm.

I believe a 600cfm was stock. have you tried re-building the carb and have the spring loaded bolts holding the primary and secondary bowls on been replaced? Check summit racing as well they have a good selection of marine carbs, hollley and edelbrock

I concur, you'd have to spin 7300 rpm to use 750 cfm...

I do have a wedge, when I got the boat it had a ford 4 barrel aluminum intake with a one inch ugly ass spacer with some vacuum actuator on it that was capped off and it had a wedge that was about an inch or so on the high end. The engine was pretty cobbled together by someone with just enough knowledge to be dangerous, the only parts I saved from the original engine were the, flywheel, raw water pump (he had no working circulation pump), the carb, the wedge, the heads, and one of the two exhaust manifolds (and I had to rebuild the carb, the heads, and the rwp and rebalence the flywheel). After I switched to an edelbrock intake I used the wedge for no other reason than it was there before. Is it needed don't know, but it doesn't seem to hurt.

The spacer helps on horsepower a little, it helps the fuel to atomize more but mainly the wedge is to help level out the carb, most don't have a wedge most are a 1" spacer with a port for the PVC valve since there isn't a port on the intake to tap into.

Thanks guys, I wont go spending all my money on a oilpan until I check around this is my forst full resto on a boat, ski n sports in tyler texas is doing all the work, boat is in bad shape and the price is going up high quickly. I think i will try rebuilding or sticking with new stock parts. Any other tips on things to do while this boat is tore down would be great, Im redoing all interior fixing the stringers < they arent bad > having my prop rebalanced new heads new carb new rwp impeller, drippless shaft seal, all fluids filters changed , blowers replaced, electronic ignition, plugs and wires, exhuast manifolds and risers, new rudder, The only exterior work is a new bump rail like on the new nautis and some minor fixes on the gel coat. total is around 10 large right now tell me if that souns way high oh yeah there are a few other minor things too

Corey, you will need a wedge plate for the Edelbrock Carb. It'll run in the shop, but be tough to tune on the lake without the wedge. If you get that much work done by a Dealer, make sure he stands behind his work...pull a 200 LB slalom skier out on a Monza and then listen to the engine (watch the Tach) when he pulls out.

Buy a new prop and leave the other as a spare. Acme 540 is a great selection for the 351. Another $250 won't hurt, but will sure impress everyone else when your boat will pull stumps!

Compression test the engine to see what gut's she has left in her before you start on such an expensive project. My last boat was purchased with everything done but the engine...the PO was so upset it wouldn't come off plane that he didn't care about the pretty paint and new interior.

Good Luck and Congratulations on the purchase.
