I was in the process of repacking the shaft seal, and didn't know how tight to put on the packing nut.
When I took it off -- I was able to do everything by hand (loosen the packing nut/etc)...but figured that was likely too loose.
Is there a standard method of making sure it's tight enough. For example, do it by hand and then using the tool X number of rotations/etc?
Thanks, Ben

Ben, Hand tighten the gland nut first. Check it for drips as well as how hot it gets. You need some dripping since the packing is water lubricated but you don't want it to run hot ether.
