OK, my dad has a1995 CC, it has not run in two years and I have not been in the boat in 6 years. He tells me it fires up fine but as soon as you advance throttle it dies. He has changed the fuel filters. He says the fuel is "fresh enough". I think its a timing advance issue? What do you guys think? He is 22 hours away so I have yo walk him through it rather than just doing it myself.

Thanks
G$

I had a similar problem and ended up doing a carb rebuilt. It ran great while cold and once it warms up and give it gas while idling, then it dies. Starts up fine and then dies again. We had to hammer down the throttle and off it went. Took the boat out yesterday and it ran great, not once died out. Just a thought.....

G$ - What type of fuel system does your dad's boat have? Throttle body FI, I am guessing?

The first thing I would suspect is the Protect ignition system, they fail often.
