Been browsing CCF for over a year and found one that I really like for sale. Unfortunately it is not on this site but I wanted some advice from the pros.
It is a 1976 Ski Nautique. Motor was replaced in 1992-1993 and has approximately 300 hours. Boat has 1000 hours. Floor is said to be solid and the only visible damage is from beaching the boat. I will post pictures of the damage as soon as I can.
My question is, is this boat worth $6800?
Here is the link at ski it again:

Thanks in advance!

Pretty boat but the short answer is: No. Many owners here wish it was worth that or more. If it had documented grid and deck replacement and perfect pass, then I would think about it a little more. A '76 with the original grid in good shape is unlikely. 5K maybe

Market value = what someone is willing to pay. Is this a "forever boat"? Are you so cash strapped it's about the money rather than then actual boat. Did you get excited when you first saw pics? Is it near enough to be do-able and is the time right? NADA says none of these boats are "worth" what they are going for on this site.
I wanted a SkiTique...found one close that was re-powered, that made me smile when I saw it and sold it a few years later for another boat that made me smile. A lot of personal decisions that we can't make for you....so, when in doubt, ask your honey!
I would think closer to 6K would be general value if it is really solid and strong running. Certainly if restrung and re-powered, 6K plus is reasonable. IMHO..........

Definitely makes me smile. I grew up with an 81 same color. Wife likes it too:). Just not sure it is worth that much. Probably keep it for 5 years or so. Thanks!!

That's a pretty boat... Keel rash not withstanding. It's priced at the top of the market though, no question about it. If the interior is perfect and the floor and stringers check out, I wouldn't feel too bad about giving $6k for it, though I'd be pushing for closer to $5500. After all, you can get a decent 2001 for that kind of money, and that is a fairly sought after boat for its size and wakeboarding capabilities.

I'd wonder if someone would treat their boat like that, what else have they done with it? That is way more than keel rash. That is many multiple times of beaching it, so much so that there is no gel coat!
Get the price down by saying you're going to have to regel the bottom. The best way would be to remove the engine and flip the boat. Not a weekend job.

Thanks! I agree. I think it is worth 5500-6k. The current owner says the floor/stringers were in great shape. Any short cuts in checking this out when I see it in person? A certain area maybe? I've been around boats my entire life but not checking out the older boats with possible stringer issues. I typically just feel for soft spots in the floor etc.

I used a large, long socket (from socket set) nestled in my hand and tapped away...... you can ABSOLUTELY hear the ringing difference. My wife was with me during an evaluation of one BFN and pointed out to me the difference in sound from outside the boat....GREAT Video, by a handsome man.....

Good Luck Brian...
Shopping for boat is Awesome! Repairing them is another story.... That gelcoat wear is pretty amazing...... but when there's no dock, and your girl doesn't want to wade into shore, the gel coat gets it!
Snap pics of the buying adventure.........

Brian
If I got the link right, the boat is in Lincoln NE? You're in Columbus OH? Nice looking boat but that keel would scare me off what's gotta be close to a 1000 mile drive each way.....nothing better/closer?

What exactly about the keel would scare you off? It doesn't seem to be into the fiberglass but the gel/paint is gone. I haven't found anything closer that I like as much. I'm partial to 76 and the color so I'm willing to make a fun road trip to see the quality in person. I also have a place in Indiana and the seller is willing to meet me almost half way so I thought I would make a weekend out of it.

Just looked at the link, get the price down a bit and buy it, all the old boats have warts.
