I've mentioned it before but when ever I need to work on a car or truck, I always say I need to pre cut myself since it's inevitable I'll end up with a cut on a hand. This morning I had to dig into the dash to change the fan speed switch on my Suburban. Damn, under the dash and under door panels are always a PITA due to the tight spaces!! Also, I guess the auto makers don't want their electrical connectors coming apart since you need to be a combination of a magician, an engineer and 4 small screwdrivers to get them apart!!
Well, I got it changed out along with plenty of swear words!! At least I only had to go one layer on the dash unlike going all the way to get to the AC evaporator coil!

Once I got the tang of a timmerman nut poked thru my thumbnail, from trying to release the hood (bad cable). I was in a convenience store parking lot in rural Iowa, BTW. There was only one way out - pull hard with jaw clenched. Never forget that one!

OUCH!

Stapled through my finger once and you could see it in the nail.

One other notable one was taking a drain plug out of the sump of my 73 911 when I was about 16. The plug was unmoved for at least 15 years. When it broke loose my pointer finger was at the top of the open end of a 3/4 wrench. Completely ripped the entire pad of my finger off. Folded it over and bandaided it with no stitches. Don't know how I have no scar there.

That car created some interesting stories during my ownership.

in the hvac business one of the first things everyone does is grab a strip of sheetmetal as a duct hanger in one hand hold it against the duct speed screw it and it turns into a high speed cutting propeller

Pete, local 91 here. I once drilled through my fingernail on purpose to drain the blood out from a bad pinch. The drill bit caught my nail and pulled in further than I wanted it to. It was was very painful and releving all at once. I was like" owwwww!!! Aahhhhhhh. Never forget that too. My fingernail is still screwed up. 12 years later. Bones.

One of my nails is just getting back to normal.

Usually for blood under the nail I take a lighter and heat up a needle tip. It melts right through and you won't drill further in!! OUCH!

I was playing racket ball on a glass walled court, I went back for as shot feeling for the wall, my pinky got caught in the crack of the door, out if the corner of my eye I saw something fly through the air, looked at my pinky and realized it was my finger nail that went flying! 7 stitches in the finger nail bed!

Funny how you never forget that stuff. My wife tells me stuff all the time and I can't remember half of it.

You know what my Wife said last night? ..... I don't know, I wasn't listening.     Thanks Chris. I try. Hey by the way I want to race again. I think my prop was full of weeds! Also wanted to talk more with you. The Reunion was fun but too short!

Yea, spaced out & never got over to your boat to talk with you at Nbay.

I was wondering if my custom advance curve also gave me the edge out of the hole. Being alone in the boat didn't hurt either!

You're on for the next meet!
