I'm hoping to be ready to glass in new secondary stringers this weekend but not sure what to use. I need 6" to 8" strips but do I use mat or cloth and what oz. or does it really matter.

mat is much stronger but you should put one or two layers of cloth... then mat over top of the wet cloth. i've got one main stringer glassed in and am doing the #2 this weekend..i never asked what oz. I was to use. The marine store sold me what he sells everyone doing a stringer project. I can tell you this "buy enough resin" the cloth sokes it up like a spong.

You should alternate mat and cloth (woven roving), starting and finishing with mat. I would suggest a minimum 5 layer layup depending on material weight, but nothing less than 1/8" overall thickness.
