I removed my steering to prepare for the re-gel coat on my 83 SN 2001 rebuild and the threaded end that holds the steering wheel on is rusted out and needs replaced. I cant seem to find the part. I checked the usual spots, skidim, N3, but could not find what I was looking for. Maybe i'm not searching the correct part. I assume this is a rotary sytem. Let me know if I'm wrong, also if you can point me to where I can find the helm shaft in the photo I would be greatful. Thanks

I may be wrong, but think you will need to source a second hand helm - have spent a lot of time trying to find parts for mine and never found anywhere selling replacement shafts.
Is there not enough room to tap more thread on it? Or failing that could you not reduce thread size?

That is a Teleflex Big-T rotary helm... and Graham is right that replacement parts are generally not available. Replace the whole thing- theyre available all over the place for +/- $200.

Thanks gents! I have found the big T. Going to try and source the shaft still, but I'm at least on the right path.
