Hello All
I have a '97 Cmpetition Nautique with a 351 Ford PCM engine and PCM transmission. Altho the tranny oil looks and smells good, I figure its about time to change oil in it. The wortless factory manual that came with it tells me nothing. I see no evident drain port, so attemted to pump it out of the fill hole. An ounce or two was the best I could do and then nothing. What is the method used to drain that oil?

BJ - use a 1/8 inch copper tube (icemaker line) to get down into the sump. It is best to have it long enough so the hose connection is above the fill port (Others have dropped a short tube into the sump & had to disaasemble). You should be able to pull out just shy of 2 qts.

Will the copper tube actually slip all the way to the bottom without hitting any obstruction? My first attempt was with a Jabsco drill pump and the pickup hose that came with it (1/4 " plastic) that hose could not penetrate more than 1 or 2 inches.Also if successful pumping out the sump,would there be much oil left in all the passages and such?

BJ. Yes, the copper tube will go to bottom. It needs to be straight. There is a small pilot hole that is 1/2 way down that you need to go thru also. You will not get all of the fluid out, but it doesn't matter - unless you are changing from motor oil to ATF, or your ATF has water in it. (in those cases, you have to change it several times).

BeeJay, go to O'reilly auto parts and pick up a suction gun. It has a flexible clear tube and you can pull all the fluid out with 10 pumps or so. Easy and clean and the gun costs about 10 bucks.
