What type of packing do I need to order for the prop shaft inside the log, also the rudder shaft. Also what size would be helpful. Thanks

It's ether 3/16" or 1/4". CC used both. Remove the packing nut and measure. I as well as many other members have been having very good results with the GFO packing. I buy it in 20' lengths from McMaster but they do have smaller quantities. Skidim also has it but at 10 times the cost!!

Quarter inch 4 the Rudder and Three sixteenths 4 the Prop Shaft.

20 feet ???   OMG !!!

Pete, That's enough packing for you to become the new "Marty"

My personal fav is the White Teflon.

Al,
I can buy 20' of GFO from Mcmaster for the same price Skidim rips off people for a couple feet!! Yes, it will last me for a few more boat restorations and existing boat maintenance's!!

Details on the Teflon packing your use? What is the FPM max?

Thank you for your help. I have an open bow bayliner capri with an outboard, so this boat is a whole new animal that I am taking on.

Good question Pete.
The White Teflon is good for over 7600 rpms
The GFO is more than double
The White Teflon will withstand slightly higher pressure.
