So, I have a small business I do on the side and I was balancing my account, and I see a 5 cent charge on 9/30/2013 with no indication on who did it, just a blank line. Typically when you see a small charge like that its a clue that someone has hacked your account. So when I drop off some deposit checks the other day I ask the teller if there are any more small charges like that, and why is this one on there? She then tells me that she has had other questions from other business owners and proceeds to tell me that it was the GOVERNMENT that pulled the 5 cents, but since it was done late in the month the re-deposit will show on the next statement. My big question is this: WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT HAS FREE ACCESS TO MY BUSINESS ACCOUNT?? WHAT GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO PULL MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON, OR ANY REASON THEY COME UP WITH?? If you have a business you might want to check this out. Nothing in the last 6 months on my small business account, but I will be watching. That sounds like the test transaction I did when linking my checking account to an ING account. Sounds like they are pretty likely now linked to your account and can monitor it whenever they wish. Big brother is watching you, and has the ability to confiscate your money at will. | I just wonder if/when the government will access/confiscate our 401K savings accounts. It has been discussed. I doubt a direct confiscation would happen (well, with this president, I don't doubt anything), but, there is more serious talk of potentially limiting the tax deductability of 401's so the govt can keep more of the lost tax revenue. |

Two things: The teller was an older woman and the line item where the 5 cents was pulled was blank. Besides the bank, who can pull money from my account with no information being posted as to who did it? That being said, it still could be misinformation on the tellers part but I hope to find out.

Why is it that something that is not taxed or a deduction that is allowed is viewed as lost tax revenue. I'd find out what happened to the $.05 or open a new account. |

I am not disagreeing that this could be the bank. If my darn client would pay my bill I could run down there and find out. I hate wasted trips.. Last night, while I was sleeping, the government broke into my house and removed everything I own. They replaced everything they took with exact copies. They also broke the window on my daughters car while she was working at the University of Chicago and stole her iPhone charger and the change in her ash tray. | The .05 in/out sounds like some sort of account verification for banking purposes like paypal, online banking, auto pay, etc. I doubt seriously the GVT is tapping into your account AND letting you know about it. My banker tells me that "certain" transactions must be reported to the feds for money laundering, and tax fraud. If they want your money, and they do, then they will continue to do what they are doing.....print more money, and make yours worthless! |

I am just curious why the teller would have stated it was happening to many businesses and it was the government? What possible upside could there be for the bank to circulate that story? So, after a long wait, since I was holding a few checks to cash until next year, I spoke to my contact at my bank. She knew what I was talking about with the money being pulled from my account and she said it was a "New System" glitch. They were moving over to a new system and the setting that controlled the Free Checking wasn't correct so the bank pulled money out. As you know they put it back in. Why the hell the one teller said it was the government I will never know. My contact said if it were true, she would have me pull mu accounts.. Ah, yeah!
