I Need to have the prop on my '87 Ski Nautique repaired. I'm looking to buy a prop puller if someone out there has one they no longer need, let me know.
Thanks.

I have one you can use if you are near Lake Lanier GA.

They are very easy to make if you have a thick sheet of steel, 4 large bolts and a grinder

Peter,
We don't where you are (tell us) and if you want to buy one or just a borrow one. Most of us that have one (or more) want to keep it (them)!! !!

I got one to loan. You buy the bus ride both ways. Dont want to part with it, handy item to have around.

check the FAQ thread and look for "Pete's $10 prop puller"   I think you'll spend less making one than shipping it twice if you are careful to follow his instructions.

I'm going to see if I can get one from that guy in Scotia though; it seems like he has a few to spare!

Corvette Pete, are you one of my long lost relatives?

Those 3/4 bolt pullers sound great in theory, as they are simple to build and can pull more evenly than the C-clamp style... but in practice, they cant be used on props with blades that extend forwards very far. Most Acmes fall into this category. I would stick with the c-clamp style, Ive gotten a LOT of use out of mine. I cant imagine owning an inboard, and not owning a prop puller.

with proper machining you can make them work on any prop..mine has a shouldes on the rear hub that takes care of clearing the blades...

I had to make a spacer to keep from damaging some blades

Kap, I'd like to see how you machined yours to work.

Gary, a spacer would work- but only if you have excessive strut to prop clearance (which is not uncommon from the factory). On a boat that I have dialed in (3/8" gap or less), I have to tap the puller into place- no room for any extra spacer!

I'm not sure who I'm related...?   I do live in Conn, but I grew up in Mass.

I've only had my boat for 4 years, and never had to touch the prop. That's why I don't have a puller.

Tim,
The one I made does work without touching the forward blade portion of the typical Acme. The key is keeping the bolt centers as close to the prop hub as possible and then the forward pulling plates diameter can be small enough to just contact the prop hub.
