I have been trying to identify an electronic ignition system that will fit the Mallory distributor in my 70 Ford Holman Moody 302. I could not identify it because Holman Moody started with a Mallory dual point distributor, removed one set of points, and installed the condenser inside where the second set of points would go, making it a single point model. The number on the breaker plate did not match anything I could find. Gary to the rescue. I received a letter from Gary with information on the proper E-Spark electronic ignition conversion made by Mallory ( now a Prestolite company along with Mr. Gasket, Lakewood, and Accel ). Curious, I called the Mallory tech help number listed on their web site (1-216-688-8300) and spoke to an actual living human being with knowledge. The guy was familiar with my distributor and the correct E-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit (the one Gary gave me info on). I learned that Mallory has a guy who rebuilds old Mallory distributors. If you send the unit to them they will clean the unit, check all the components, install new springs, bushings, and whatever else it needs AND install the correct E-Spark ignition conversion kit. The total price? $135.00 plus shipping. Sounds like a deal to me. Mine will be on it's way next week. Can anyone tell me if the H/M 302 has a resistor coil or resistor wire in the loom? I am all for the "keep it original" thing but not to the POINT that I want to be out on the water fiddling with a screw driver and a match book cover. THANKS GARY!

Here is a picture John, it's also in the HM manual in the wiring diagram. It mounts using one of the solenoid mounting bolts. You will also need at the minimum 8mm resistor plug wires. Not sure if that was in the instructions.
