If you just want to upgrade from points electronic ignition I'd buy the kit that SkiDIM sells. I believe it's $100-$120.

If you really want to go all out buy a custom calibrated marine HEI distributor from http://www.performancedistributors.com/marinedui.htm - Performance Distributors

I've used Pertronix to eliminate points in some old cars and have been very happy. Just need to know you need to bypass the resistor wire to give full 12vdc to the Pertronix. Points systems use resistor wire to reduce voltage so that the points don't burn up. Pertronix will run for a few hours and then die out. Pretty easy modification.

I put a Petronix kit on my 66 Barracuda. Best 100 bucks I very spent. Really easy to install. When you hace the old points mounting plate off, make sure you lubricate the manual advance wiehgts and aprings before you put the new plate on
