Just got a 1982 sn 2001 w/ ford 351 and velvet drive tranny. My manual is newer (1989) - What kind of autolite plugs go in a 1982(14 or 18mm ?) Do I have a water stainer sceen & a tranny screen to clean ? Can't find it.( maybe not on the 1982). If someone knows exact part # or name for autolite or motocraft plugs that would be great , then I can go to autostore here . Thank You !! P.s I think I have the 240 hp 351. Dan

autolite 24 for the plugs, you may or maynot have a strainer, if not then get one and install it yourself. If you do it will be inline with the pickup hose and before the tranny cooler.

The tranny screen is just inside the inlet of the transmission cooler.

When I change the trans oil, I take 5 minutes and seperate the shaft from the trans (4 bolts) which allows me to run the boat "in gear" to help mix things up before I dump the oil. I cant say how much actual benefit there is to this, but it seems to get the gray clutch material out better.

Congratulations Dan! I just bought an 82 Sn also. Go online to www.skidim.com. They have everything you'll need and great advice and service too. I ordered a new strainer for mine, It didn't have one either, for $39 bucks. Good insurance I think.
