I could use a little guidance. I am going to replace the stringers in my 83 ski nautique. Without pulling everything out yet how far forward do the stringers go. I cut the floor out to the air box do I need to take the front floor out and the air box?

Can anyone tell me how the ring comes off the pylon? Looks like drive pins but I didn't want to start beating on this thing.

Any advice would be helpful. Also reading some of the threads on here one fellow said he used a roto zip to remove the stringer. Is that cutting along the bottom of the stringer and the hull?
Thanks for any help.

Main stringers go all the way forward past the rear edge of the air box (which is really a solid foam box with plywood sides, holding the air duct tubing and steering linkage/wiring harness tubing in place). Secondary stringers taper down and end just about at the lower edge of the dash. As far as the ring and finger you need to drive the roll pin(s) out and then work the ring and finger out, it will probably be solidly rusted into place if it hasn't been removed before, so you will have to work at it. Do not cut it off, as chances of finding a replacement is awfully slim.

So I guess I'll have to figure out how to get the airbox out without destroying it and cut the floor up under the dash as well.
Thanks for the reply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is what that area looks like in an 83 SN, that vertical line just a bit forward of the sploped edge of the air box is the forwardmost bulkhead, and thats where the two main stringers end (at least on an 83).

Its from this thread on the boats rebuild, you will probably find everything you need to know somewhere within it's 13 pages.

Thanks mark.   I tore more of the floor out today and it's exactly like your picture.   Next step to get the engine outso I can proceed on the rest of the floor.
