Subject: Green Lake 2014

Lets Talk Summer JULY 18-20

Depth: 236 feet (72 m)
Length: 7.50 miles (12.07 km)
Surface area: 11.45 sq miles (29.64 km²)
Catchment area: 100 sq miles (259 km²)
Mean depth: 101 feet (30.78 m)
Surface elevation: 796 feet (242.62 m)
Width: 3 miles (4.83 km)

Green Lake, the reunion that started it all, will be ready to see all of the CCFan Vets and Newcomers alike. This year, come and relax as this mini event will be a BYOM (bring your own meat), lake-time event.

Friday, take in the lake and relax into the evening out in the shallows of Norwegian Bay.

Saturday is a no rules day; taking in the water, the town, or whatever "floats your boat". Evening will have us gathering in the park for a "good old fashion Grill-in" where everyone is welcome to bring whatever selected dinner, grill, talk and enjoy the sunset while catching up and making new CCF friends. Then of course it wouldn't be a CCFan Sat night without a trip to the GOOSE !!

Sunday; Enjoy the waters of GL, or whatever you feel like doing. Many stay till Monday, but we understand if you need to bug out this day..

Point is, come out and enjoy this relaxing, low profile weekend with us out on beautiful Green Lake........

This is a non register, unofficial, zero cost, Reunion...

I think it should be put up for a vote. Pictures of wife and or gf's can help in the voting process

With the imposed two person limit plus wife AND girlfriend recommendation we have a bit of a conundrum. (Do you Yankees use that word?)

It would be hard to get all 3 of us across the border with a 2 Canadian limit so.......

We have option A) I come with wife
option B) I come with girlfriend
option C) Wife comes with girlfriend
option D) We need to make an exception to the rule to include all 3

Please note: I'm happily married and there are no girlfriends on the side. I'm asking for a friend........ haha

hollywood I applaud your ability to remain tactful!

waterdog ... while our health care is free in Canada..... it doesn't cover you when outside the country.
Better get travel insurance!

In all seriousness though me and the wifey will probably make it down!

I too am going to make a big effort to attend this year as well but this job of mine is making me crazy! I have to go to work tomorrow (Easter)! I have an outside contractor coming in to finish piping chilled water and compressed air to a new blow molder we are installing. I went in today as well but of course no signs of my boss!

Drove past the Lake a few days ago and, while most of it is open water, there are still patches of ice. The thought did cross my mind about whether I could go waterskiing and snow skiing at the same place at the same time.

Mojo,

I don't think the family would enjoy it as much as my dad and I but, I do know that my dads long time best friend might be interested. He actually has a Baja Ski-Sport 190 and its a beautiful boat. Anyways, I think dad would be more than happy to tow the Mustang to green lake. (He loves that lake because he had the biggest fish lake record for a while, we still have the fish to this day)

Its Wisconsin, I think your Dad can still bring you into the bar with him. But having spent some time at the goose during a reunion I would say that it would definitely contribute to the delinquency of a minor. I know it has contributed to the delinquency of more than few adults!

As usual, I'll likely be able to come over to the Bay Sat afternoon and hope to bring Camp Grow's SkiTique. I may even remember to grab the GPS. If all the top dogs from out east don't come this year, the 'Tique may have a chance in the speed runs. Haven't ever tried it with some weight in the back. Any volunteers for passengers, come over and give me a holler. Didn't even bother last year, would've needed binoculars to even see TRBenj from the 'Tique.

Well Dan, you might be in a class of one this year. I don't think any heavy muscle is showing up this year. Might give Paul's Promo and Gary's Mustang a run, but that's about it..

Also, for your listening pleasure, Shoreline Boat Center will be hosting the Burbon Cowboys this year out on the bay barge Sunday afternoon..

Quinner, you better show so we have a fighting chance to drown out the band if it sucks like years ago LOL...

If it's a class of one, the 'Tique might stand an outside chance. But if there's a 440 dropped in anything I'm guessing it would be king.

We'll be up for the weekend, but I think we will only be able to see everyone on Saturday. We are planning on bringing the boat over and hanging out with everyone at Norwegian Bay.

GL Update:
While the weather is looking fantastic for whoever is coming up, there is a slight change in plans for Sat evening.

Instead of hauling everything out to the park, with this smaller group, we are going to be grilling and hanging at my house. I believe you all know where it is on Illinois Ave. There will be the use of the three grills, tables, chairs and of course, nicer bathroom facilities etc.

So please plan on coming on over and enjoy our backyard !!

For those coming in tomorrow, we'll see you out on the water !!!

The steering cable broke on Camp Grow's SkiTique but I got it replaced last night and thought all was good. Then they called today and said they had it out and it was running fine and then it started losing power and started knocking. Then it stalled and wouldn't restart and they had to tow it. So won't know until the last minute if I can make it over to the Bay Sat afternoon, but will certainly try. Hopefully, it's not serious, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll look at it Fri evening or Sat morning. That motor has run so strong, I really would find it hard to believe something serious happened, but with camp staff operating it, you never know.

Last fall it stalled and wouldn't restart for them when they went to take it off the lake and they needed a tow - but that time I discovered it only ran out of gas! It'd be nice if that was all it was this time!

Oh well, there's lots of kids at the Camp on the south side of the lake that haven't had a boat all week to be able to go tubing. The camp's almost directly across from Norwegian Bay. So if anyone cruises by Sat morning and you see the 'Tique on the lift with the motor cover up be sure to wave.

Recap,
Yes GL14' was a small, more "mini" like reunion. For us planners, it was actually quite nice, as we were able to take in the group activities a little more without any heavy lifting. It was the first time in 8 years were me and my family actually hit the water on Friday afternoon.

Anyway, GL14' was also great as we had the pleasure of meeting a new CCFan'er (you can see the rasberry color'd mustang in the picture above. John and is wife and friends came out from Racine for the day, which was great. Along with a suprise vitis from Quinner, and to see Scotts new 200 Sport was awesome.. You really can't see the cool blue metal flake gel, which looked really cool in the sunlight..

GL14' wouldn't dissapoint with usually brutal water conditions, with constant winds from the SE, but we were able to get some water sports in. And Alan and Dana doing most all the heavy lifting, kept all the kids wanting more... My girls had the best surf session they've ever had. They really have the 200 dialed in perfectly. So a special thanks to them for their timeless effort and generosity to always want to pull someone. Gabs will always remember Sunday afternoon !!!

Speed runs in Pauls beautiful 71' Promo was awesome.. Next time, I'll really hammer on it hahaha. And always good to see Steve's Classic, as it came out of hibernation to make the party !!!

Some brats, chops and rubber hotdogs over a campfire rounded the evenings. And with a lot of laughs in the end, I'd say it was a great success !!

Next year it will be official, so mark you calendars !!!!!

Thank you all for coming.

Back home no problems all weekend, great trip with great friends. Low key weekend with more time around fires than the Goose, it sure was great to catch up with everyone.

And yes we ran the snot out of the 200 which we just love doing. We ran for 3-4 hours solid each morning until it really started blowing. Sunday night was some good water as several of us shut down Norwegian bay. It's really great to pull people around that don't get the opportunity like we do.

As Dave said it was nice to go to GL without an agenda to follow but I'm also looking forward to 2015. Lots of townies I bumped into were asking where all the Correct Crafts were so they miss us!
