Is there a member that sells decals? I need a full set for my 1981 SN. I am half done with the wet sanding, buffing, polish nightmare! I need both hull-sides and transom. My hull is light grey with a darker grey gel coated stripe. I believe the hull-sides and transom letters were originally white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rex

I painted my stripes and side letters, and ordered new decals for my 78 from Garzon Studios.
They have a kit of 6 side decals for 40 bucks. Can't beat that price.

I was going to post it, but was waiting to recieve my order first.

The letters are the hull color showing thru the paint.

Hmmm.......All letters came off with the heat gun!!! The stripe must have been re-gel coated by the PO. Any suggestions? Please tell me I can buy vinyl that will replicate the paint work!! I do not know where to even begin to find someone to repaint.

Rex,
A Po must have gone the cheap easy way on putting vinyl decals on the boat. I highly recommend going original using paint. There are several threads on painting the graphics. Try the search feature or google CCfan om the subject. Stencils (Gerber mask - trade name) can be made to make the painting job easier. How about some more pictures?

The Garzon decals for the decals at the aft end of the hull sides are JUNK. They will fade in less than 1 season so plan on purchasing a set every year!

Pete, You are a happy ray of sunshine this Easter morning!!!! I was really hoping something was going to be easy!!!The wet-sanding of the bottom almost killed me. My arms are still sore. The hull sides where in worse condition but easier to work on. I was able to save all the gelcoat, including the black dash area, except for a section on the stern were the lift eye had been ripped out. That will require a re-gel that I can handle. I saw the PDF file in the reference section. I will search the above thread. There is absolutely no way I am going to attempt to paint it myself. My kids laugh I can't even color between the lines!I have a hard enough time with a spray can. What type of shop should I look for?

Marine,fiberglass/gelcoat repair, auto paint, etc....

Happy Easter

A sign painter? Don't even know if they do much anymore.

I just ordered some Garzon decals. The 6 at the back. What about them makes them junk? Did I make a mistake buying them? I have not received them yet....

I didn't know they were junk until I seen this post. I've been quite happy except when I ordered them, I forgot the ordeal because it's been a few years, but I had to post my boat year for the "package" deal.   Long story short, the "Since 1925" sticker was wrong and I had to purchase the correct one separately. I'm happy with them and match up perfect.

Some searching of the site helps!! http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6026&KW=since&PID=58499&title=correct-craft-since-1925-graphics#58499" rel="nofollow - "since 1925 decals"
Tha Garzons "since" decals are too small and will not hide any ghosting. They are also jet printed on cheap vinyl without any guarantees of UV protection.

Not all boats got the larger "since" decals, Pete- some certainly did but not all. I've owned 5 boats from 78-84 and all had the smaller ones on them with no evidence that they ever had larger ones. I've purchased those sets from a few different places and there are some differences in print quality, I wouldn't be surprised if there are variations in material quality as well. I'll be darned if I know which are which though.

I did read the posts on decal size, and made sure to mention that in my order. The Garzon fellow responded right away to inform me that I had ordered the smaller "since 1925" decal by mistake. He intercepted the order and sent me an email of my options the next morning.
After that, he shipped a confirmed set of the right 3 sizes for the 3 side decals and even included a picture in the email showing the decals side be side.....I thought it was great service.
As for the quality.....I will have to wait and see on that.

Will waxing over the decals help at all???

Check the reference section. There is a zip file of the decal negatives to use if you want to go back to original. I have an 81 I am about to restore myself.
