Does anybody know the correct battery for a 1986 ski martingue with 351 Windsor? I need the correct cold cranking amps. My boat seems to be lagging when the starter is engaged.

Idk correct cca but I wouldn't go any less than 750. I believe the correct size is a group 65 but not certain bc I use a 24. Double check battery terminals and the terms at starter and solenoid as well. Often times batteries are blamed for what turns out to be a weak solenoid.

Group 65. My 78 takes that. Got mine at Wal Mart. Works great. If by lagging you mean its turning over slow, maybe check the engine ground strap, and the other wires on the starter circuit. Could also be a worn starter. Happened to my van. Slow slow turnover even with a new batt. New starter fixed it.

Had starter rebuilt last fall and till had the same slow crank in comparison to other boats close in years and motor size. Yesterday it didn't fire after cranking it for about 20 to 30 seconds. Then the battery started going down as I had to crank it longer to finally start it. I know I have a carb issue as well.
