Due to a confusing set of events that has led to overheating and hydrolocking of my boat, I thought it would be nice to have some sort of alarm or notice if you're not getting adequate raw water cooling to, not just the engine (which has an overtemp) but also the transmission and exhaust system. Which gauge are you going to watch? By the time my hot water gauge went up, my exhaust hoses were toasted. I turned off the engine when I saw steam coming out the back, but before a gauge indicated a problem. |

Nice find. That's what I need. But its another $124 additional for the sensor. Still not cheap, $200 plus. You can put it in the hose, but then need two sensors. Probably best in the muffler. could probably use a water temp gauge or switch, maybe up to 300f? |

There are much less expensive sensors available. Check Granger or MMcar. Typically you attach them to the riser with JB. That was just a quick example of what is out there. Get a four pole Bosch type relay, LED or buzzer and couple of any thermal N/O sensors and make a simple ground circuit. Every marine generator I see has one for auto shut down. I could shop-make this for very little cashola and about 2 beers worth of effort. ------------- Jesus was a bare-footer............. |
