'95 Nautique throttle issue ???

Was our skiing/boarding tonight. Everything was great until the last pull of the evening.

When engaging the throttle lever, the boat slips into gear like normal, but when putting the throttle "down" to go, nothing happens other than idle speed. The transmission goes into forward at idle, and goes into reverse, but no real power. Had to "put-put" back to the marina which wasn't all bad since it was a nice evening an there were a couple of beers left on the boat.

Anyway, I did not take the time tonight to do a search on the issue. Will do tomorrow, but if anyone has any insight on the issue, I would appreciate it.

I suspect a throttle cable issue or linkage issue, but I am just guessing.

Thoughts?

Did you check your transmission fluid?

I hadn't until you mentioned it, but the transmission fluid seems to be at the proper level and color is normal

The brass barrel pin on the throttle cable has sheared where the cable connects to the morse control.
That or the throttle cable broke.
My guess is the barrel connector sheared off. They're designed to wear at that point.

When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.
