I noticed a slightly different steering issue that I noticed only when towing at slow speeds around 16-20ish where my steering feels like it has a little burr or something.. it just feels like it gets hung up a bit at exactly the same spot after completing a turn and coming back to center.

pulling skiers 30-36 no issues... steers like butter.

Also boat is 99SN, I don't think I have a grease fitting on rudder but will check again. Also rudder tab is slightly set to preload steering correctly.

I read someone greased rudder w/out greasepoint maybe that is what I need. I haven't had time to pull the floor since I noticed it to see if it is obvious. But plan to this weekend.

Any past experiences would be helpful!

Don't remember if my 99' had one or not, the 05' definitely does and it is remote, so easily accessible in the trunk of the boat. Always give it a few squirts at the beginning of each season.

If there is not a remote or any zerk fitting for that matter, could be a good time to add a remote one when you are in there.

I think Andy has a Ski not a sport,I don't think they have a trunk.
Andy I've got some slop in my '95s cable so I'm going to change it out if you want to check it against yours or see how to change it give me a call.

I pulled the floor up and stuck my face down there and just as I thought... no zerk. I did tighten the linkage up a little as there was a little more play than I deemed necessary. I greased up what I could and tightened everything up down there and closed her up.

I will say I am embarrassed at how dirty my bilge is .. I guess we will find out how she steers in the morning.

Paul, When are you pulling your cable? I plan to hit the Allegheny tomorrow maybe even the Fox Chapel pool. Hit me up on the phone if you are out..

Out Yesterday and still has a slight rough spot after a right hand turn coming back to center at speeds around 15-18. It is probably the steering cable but just seems odd that it isn't even a little stiff anywhere else and once I get above 25 it steers like butter.

The cables definitely behave differently depending on speed, which is weird. Probably the rudders do to. Mine was very easy to turn when not moving and at slow speed. It only got stiff at higher speed, when I assume there was a little more resistance on the rudder. Does seem funny that yours would be easier at high speed and only stiff at certain slow speeds.
