Steering cable broke on my 1878 Mustang 17. I would like to replace the steering system. As best I can tell, the original is a teleflex Big-T. Also looking at the Teleflex Safe-T QC (SS137). Looking for advice or past experience by others who have had to replace the steering on Mustang 17 (or similar CC boat). Thank!

Check with Zach at N3 Boatworks. He can get you the right part at a good price. I think your boat takes a std cable.

Why replace the entire system? The big-t us superior to the low-buck options like the safe-t. Just get a new cable, they're $100.

Gary, I agree with the others. Why replace the entire system??
BTW, we want pictures! A diary entry is needed as well.

Pete, Maybe he's busy working on the boat and has his computer left on? Ready to come back and give us an update?

Appreciate the advice. I am planning to replace only the cable. I was thinking that the original helm might be worn and best to be replaced. I now get the sense that the big-t helm is top quality, and better than a newer and lower quality replacement.
