Does anyone know the power rating (wattage) on the bulbs/lamps for illumination for the following gauges? These are both original factory gauges from my 1995 Ski Nautique.

Airguide Speedometer
Teleflex oil pressure gauge

I removed the lamps, but the numbers on them are not readable. I can match up the physical size with replacements at auto parts stores, but there are multiple power outputs available in the same style lamps.

I did quite a bit of searching here and elsewhere online, but haven't had any luck.

Thanks,
Cooper

NP gives you some idea on the other gauges. It doesn't specifically mention the Airguides.
I'm sure others will have some ideas too.

For our VDO gauges in our '92SN, we used these which may work for you. You will need the Red colored bulb cover to match the red color when lit.

I also found them at my local auto parts store, but they charged more for 1 then Summit charged for 4.

Neither of the ones pictured on NP's website are a match for mine and the VDO style bases are much different.

These are all glass, push-in style. The only metal exposed are the two wires wrapped up from the bottom.

Airguide has the red color illumination built into the gauge and the Teleflex oil pressure gauge uses a red cover over the lamp.

My tach runs a 194 bulb that's an all glass plug in type http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-194LLBP-Miniature-Incandescent-Long/dp/B000BLNTP6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-3&keywords=194+bulb" rel="nofollow - like this

Yes, the Airguide speedometers use a similar bulb, but this size bulb is available in various power ratings. I'm trying to find out what rating the speedometer and oil pressure gauge use so I don't have to spend $20 in bulbs just to find the one that I need that illuminates at the proper level.

The packaging on the bulbs I have as spares says 12V. No wattage that I can see.

Check the web for LED's and never replace them again. Completely impervious to vibration damage! I'm thinking about converting all mine over.

Not sure if you ever found a good answer to your question, I called Zach at n3boatworks and he was able to steer me in the best direction. For my '89 SpN VDO gauges, the bulb is a BA7S 12v 2w. The links above are pretty pricy compared to LED replacements. I forgot to pull the bulb out of the Airglide so I can't comment on that wattage.

Thanks for the reply. I called Zach and he couldn't really give me an answer. He directed me to elightbulbs with one part number that didn't work. I also asked DIM and Nautiqueparts and they didn't have anything either. Autozone has the parts, but I just didn't want to buy 5-6 different bulbs to get the correct illumination. I check your part number and see if it works for me.

I thought I gave you the correct BA7s number? Maybe it was another caller.

That was me and I immediately ordered a set of RED leds from them. $0.89 each. set of 8 with shipping, $10.17. Can't beat that!!!

Zach,
I don't have it written down here, but the number you gave me wasn't correct for the gauge on my '95. It doesn't look anything like what I need. Both the AirGuide and oil pressure gauge bulbs don't have a metal sleeve at the base. They only have two wires wrapped over the end.

I'm attaching a picture. Left (large) bulb is AirGuide Speedo and right (small) bulb is for the oil pressure gauge.

After it got cold I kind of forgot about it and never made it a priority to replace them. I rarely drive my boat at night anyway so it's not a big deal, but I'd still like to get them back in.

I am certainly no light bulb expert as this is fairly new to me. I have learned (from captain obvious) that those are considered "wedge" bulbs vs the type I posted above as bayonet bases. Since that one on the right is pretty small, i would wager a guess that it is either a 24 or a 74, leaning more toward the 74. Have you sized the big one to the 194 as mentioned above? Looks pretty close. I think your best bet would be to get the measurements and compare them to the specs of the bulbs online. Using both superbrightleds and elightbulbs, the leds are less expensive and last longer. Just my $0.02.

I can match up the correct form factor, but I don't know the correct power rating (wattage). You can get the same form factor bulb in a variety of power ratings. I was hoping to avoid buying $35 worth of bulbs to find the correct one. I'd also rather not have one gauge that is excessively dim or bright.

Since so far no one knows definitively which bulbs are correct for my gauges I'll buy an assortment of power outputs, test them, report back. It will probably be a few weeks as it's not exactly boating weather up here yet.

Interested to see your results. I tried this 18 months ago and bought and returned A LOT of LEDs. SuperbrightLEDS were great to deal with but actual bulb sizes, brightness and dispersal patterns confounded the process. In the end, I was beaten and just bought 2 incandescent replacement bulbs.

Although, I still think a bow light LED is the way to go..........

Just thinking here...... But your trying to match the the power output of the two new bulbs to your remaining old bulbs?
If the bulbs are original to your 95 then the all the bulbs are 20 years old....... Don't you think another one might be about to burn out? Seems to me that your in the dash already buy a complete set of new bulbs of the same wattage and you should be good for another 20 years for a very minimal investment of money and time!

I agree with just getting a new set all of the same lumens (or watts). Comparing the links i posted above, most boat/car bulbs operate in the range of 9-14.8VDC so any of those options should work as long as they are sized appropriately. With the LEDs, the 74 and 194 that i linked are both 5 lumens, so the intensity should be the same from the different form size. If you wish to use standard bulbs, 1 watt is equivalent to 9 lumens according to elightbulbs.

The PO somehow beat the hell out of bow light. I ended up getting this http://www.amazon.com/SeaSense-Combination-Stainless-Steel-Light/dp/B004XAD4UQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1426338805&sr=8-14&keywords=seasense+led" rel="nofollow - one from Amazon.

I have a 97 sport Naut. If I am going to change all of them over to LED should I pull the dash using the nurled thumb screws or just lay under there to pull and change? It's basically a "when you did this it would have just been easier to..." question

You have to pull the thumscrews, and pick up the pod enough to get access. You can't just work from underneath, because the pod lays on top of solid fiberglass.

The fiberlglass I speak of is essentially part of the deck. It just has a giant hole cut in it to allow the wiring etc, to pass through to the dash pod. But, the hole isn't big enough to get your hands in and do any real work.

On the plus side, the pod is designed to be lifted up fairly easily. Removing it entirely is a little more work, but probably won't be necessary for you are doing.
