I have a 76 Ski Tique. I pulled my prop and am sending it away to Delta to have them fix and balance it. My drive shaft has some fore and aft play. It was pointed out to me that I only have one bolt holding my shaft on! If I replace the three missing bolts will that take the slop out of the movement of the prop shaft? What kind of torque do I put on these? Someone said it needs a safety bolt where a wire holds it in place? Does anyone have a pic of what that should look like?

Bryan, If I'm understanding your issue correctly, it sounds like the prop shaft is moving fore and aft in the coupling. If so, adding a safety (set screw) bolt into the shaft isn't the fix. The coupling is a heat shrunk fit to the shaft. You should have absolutely no play. The typical cause of a loose fit is misalignment causing fretting between the shaft and coupling. I suggest taking the two apart and doing some close checking measuring both the shaft and coupling. It needs to be a .000" to a -.0005" fit. If it's a loose fit, then it's ether a new coupling bored to fit the shaft or an ARE shaft system.
You need to check your alignment. Take a look at "alignment 101" in the "new" section.

It appears like you have a broken set screw that has been broken for a number of years. I'd also check the end play of the trans.
