Well, the neck is a little sore (ok, its a lot sore, but don't tell my wife...) but I put this together today. Not really a hard build, just a lot, a lot o' parts...
Silly Video:
Hollywood, you will have to re-learn where the tools are in the garage, I should be able to get rid of the pile on top of the tool bench too.
FrankenOtter, the OCD will soon be better...

Steve I was just thinking we were due for an update from you. Nice project. Glad to see you participating in some good guy stuff. I bet it makes your sole feel good even if it is a pain in the neck. Listen to your body, don't push too hard. Dave.

Steve, I'm glad to see you are to the point to move on to project. Keep up the good work. When I built my shop, my concern was always being able to find tools/equipment in the cabinets especially with memory fading with age! For Christmas, I asked for a label maker so now all the cabinets have been coded with an ID. As I put items away, I write down the location. The next step will be to find a computer program with a search feature, make all my entries so I can easily find what I'm looking for. http://s133.photobucket.com/user/brainard_bucket_bucket/media/008.jpg.html" rel="nofollow">

Tim - Ahh but the cooler did move (at least the cooler lid). More importantly the hammer really didn't move either, other then to re-position from the floor to the bench top and then again as the shelves started stacking up.
Steve & Greg; I would love to come work on your projects, but then there is that whole work thing. For whatever reason we had MLK Day off at Motorola, so seemed like a perfect time to get this project done.
Pete - dang man, that set up is nicer then a lot of kitchens I have seen! Some day when I build a standalone shop and get out of the garage, I will have to come back to these pics. Sounds like you are needing some inventory management software to meet you needs - GREAT idea!

Pete, I love that idea with bin locations in a computer data base. You could even make a editable PDF doccument and just use the control find feature any computer has.

I'm thinking that you guys are in big trouble if the F12 key breaks. As to the label maker we had a manager who on one of the guy's last day before retiring made him go thru his truck and label what was in all the bins. We all had a laugh when we looked in after he left, the bins were labeled Telephone Stuff, and more Telephone Stuff

Seems to me pi$$ing a guy off on his last day and then handing him a label maker is just a bad idea. I can imagine what some of those labels said.

Pete Why not totally automate, put those little RFID stickers on all your stuff (and one to identify you in the pocket of your monogrammed button-up and then build yourself a voice activated garage-bot to fetch whatever you need. It would be just like having a kid, without the goofing off, bent props, and college tuition. Name it the KRU (Kid Replacement Unit).

Steve...Glad to hear you are getting back in the groove of "fixin' stuff", and putting things together. Got to be a good feeling for you, albeit a bit sore.
Pete....Killer shop! I would be up there working on antique John Deere tractors, vintage Ford trucks, and classic Harleys, and then head over to Weasel's for a cold beer or two after a long day of wrenching.

WOW talk about SOME assembly required. It came out great.
Pete,
You can have J Bear come up a design you a CPU inventory management system since he is retired and seems to be up to speed on the F12 thing now. Your shop sure is beautiful I hope you are able to get up there full time, very soon, to enjoy it.

The thought of J bear helping actually crossed my mind as a joke obviously! BTW, I don't think I'm as bad since I haven't needed the F12 kep YET!! I can say one thing about John and that even though he seems to have problems with the computer, he does seem to make it through the issues!

Actually, I started with Steve and Val told me to BACK OFF !!!! Then Greg purchased one so I slid my game over to his stable.
Then Steve's daughter decided to get married and he already has one or more in college so I was hoping for a need money fast sale and Greg had his running again, so I slid my game back to Steve.
Now I have been booted out of that opportunity once again.

Everything is going well and to plan with the health. My projects have taken a little bit of a back seat. Just too cold outside. I have about half of the new tool box stocked. Once we get consistent warm weather I have to completely tear apart the garage, so the new box can slide into place and rearrange everything. Kind of procrastinating that job as well.
So I have been helping others... We have been playing musical chairs with Frankenotters 176, moving it from one hanger to another out at the airport.
My neighbor across the street bought an Allison drag, so have been doing some wrenching on that. His uncle is putting together a jeep. I assembled his carbs for him, New engine here:
Also helping on assembly of the frame;
Other than that, It's volleyball season, so spending a lot of time in VB gyms, also it is music competition time as well, so attending a lot of performances, this was one of my favorites, they qualified with state on this one, all you Led Zeppelin fans should enjoy this (my oldest daughter is the first girl violinist as you move from left to right):

Steve, I really enjoyed that video! I love going to school concerts, I've had a couple of kids play in both orchestra (cello) and choir. Love what they can accomplish when a good dedicated teacher takes the time with them.
And glad to hear she plays volleyball. Believe it or not I just got home from my volleyball league, still play a lot at 53, wish it was a sport when I was in high school. In NH they barely have any boys volleyball, just a handful of schools, almost exclusively a girls sport and there are some really talented players in high school.

Peter - Thanks, I have not - I will look them up!
Joe - have you been talking to my wife??? She says the exact same thing, so it MUST be true! Hope you are seeing some thawing out your way, Good winter for you though, some interesting travel - so cool!
Jeff - Thanks, I have seen that kid, he is cool. (Syd is in a trio called Young Strings, they play regular gigs and they have a whole set of contemporary stuff; in addition to Zepplin, they play guns-n-roses, beatles, cold play, all kinds of stuff. They love to play Celtic and when they play classical music it is beautiful too.
David - they have a GREAT teacher, from grade school, she brought all these kids together from 4 high schools and had to get waivers for both the group and the music, she is awesome. You are so right about VB, all three of my girls play, it is my middle daughters passion, just like music is for my oldest. I tell them all the time, and Joe will agree, VB is a LIFE sport
